5.0 out of 5 stars Very good phone system
Easy to set up and use, lot of features and has very good reception. I got the 5.8 verswion as opposed to the 2.4 version because it is not suppost to interfer with wireless lans. It has not. Only down side is that you have to enter a number in the directory into each handset. 3 hand sets three different entries. It would be nice to have the ability to down load a number...

1.0 out of 5 stars Whatever Happened to AT&T Quality?
After two days the color display failed. The display looked like an old film with vertical lines and no color.

The inability to share phone books also was a BIG drawback. I think I would have tolerated that, if the display did not fail. For the price, I expect quality and features. Not getting quality, is unacceptable at this price range. I learned...

5.0 out of 5 stars Extension Phones For AT&T For E5865, October 27, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AT&T E580-2 Accessory Handset with Color Display (E5800 and E5900 Series Expandable Phones) (Office Product)
These units (up to 8) can be used to create wireless remote stations using the E5865 base unit. They require an electrical hook up but because they are wireless, the extensions do not need to connect to a phone line.
We purchased two extensions--one installed 20 feet away and the other 30 feet. The installation went fairly painlessly and we have noted no drop out issues and the clarity is excellent.
While the display screen is in color, I am not sure that adds anything positive to the equation-given the base units display is monochrome. In retrospect, perhaps we should have gone for the slightly cheaper monochrome units, as the color actually tends to be distracting at times.
The total package works well and eleiminates the problem of having different phone types throughout the house--just the consistency between the units was a positive step for us.
If the specs meet your needs and the price is right, they work as advertised and are recommended.

The inability to share phone books also was a BIG drawback. I think I would have tolerated that, if the display did not fail. For the price, I expect quality and features. Not getting quality, is unacceptable at this price range. I learned that AT&T really don't make these phones, VTech does.

The Handset on this and the base unit E5965C do not fit the face well.

Consumer Reports rated these phones high, but after using them for a week, I was really disappointed and returned the set for a refund.

I am now considering the Panasonic KX-TG5776S.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly positive, March 20, 2006

This review is from: AT&T E580-2 Accessory Handset with Color Display (E5800 and E5900 Series Expandable Phones) (Office Product)
Bought 2 as additions to existing system -- already knew handset quality was good (though a bit pricey). Problem was supplied batteries in both phones died after about 10 days and I had to buy replacements (couldn't wait for ATT to fiddle around supplying warranty replacements). Better not to supply batteries (and reduce cost) rather than provide junk.

3.0 out of 5 stars AT&T E580-2 Accessory Handset, March 15, 2006
This review is from: AT&T E580-2 Accessory Handset with Color Display (E5800 and E5900 Series Expandable Phones) (Office Product)
Color screen is of very low resolution, and, therefore, appears cheap. Batteries do not stay charged for very long. Sound quality is marginal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, July 4, 2006

Good construction, right size (buttons are big enough to use) and sounds great. Replaced a high-end office-type cordless and this phone is better than the last set (Siemens).

Screen is easy to read and voice caller ID is a good function.

Only downside is that you cannot set up a phone book in one phone or the base and transfer to the other phones. Everything else is great!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice sound but I don't expect longevity, July 2, 2006

Nice sound characteristics, I have 3 handsets and within the first month I had to exchange two of them. One of the number buttons stopped working on one and the other just stopped working. The batteries also last too short a time before needing charging, I may buy a stronger non AT&T battery to try to solve that problem. Though the sound quality is good, the sound quality on the answering machine is poor in hindsight, I wouldn't buy this phone again.

Same as the E580-1 but in full color....and for a little more money. I added it to the system as one of the expandables and love it. If you are trying to save money, go with the 1 instead of this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied, January 9, 2007

These phones work great with good sound quality. Also have the ability to remotely check messages and store favorite numbers. Battery seems to hold a charge pretty well, although I usually leave mine in the charger. Good range (from base)... I use mine throughout the house, the garage and even out in the yard. They are easy to use, easy to read (except when the battery is low, then the display does not light up); in short, I have no complaints and no regrets. If I had it to do over again, I would buy the same!

We were in need of a new phone for our home, after some research we chose at&t model# e5965c. The e580-2 is a phone you can add to the base phone. It can be used in any room that has a power outlet, no phone line needed. We have not had any problems with either phone so far. They seem to be built very well, are easy to use and have clear sound with no noise interfearance. There our many options to chose from, ring tones, screen displays etc. Although it was at the higher price end for 5.8 ghz phones we are very happy with the features and quality.
