These bars are somewhat better than other low-carb bars: Crunchy texture is nice and taste is good. Unfortunately they are loaded with 19 grams of poop-inducing Maltitol, not the friendlier Erythritol. Still I enjoy them - mainly in the privacy of my small office LOL

The bar tastes great and had a fudge like consistency. I bought this kind mainly to avoid bars with high fructose corn syrup and its various derivatives. They were good but not really good for me.

Nutrition:

Protein: is 17 grams (NOT the 25 in the product description). Really at 17 grams it is not a meal replacement but rather a snack.

FAT: has 8 grams of fat. That is a third of your total daily allowed for an adult. Not only that but 6 grams of that is Saturated fat! That is as much as a McDonald's Cheeseburger... Not good. Apparently, this comes from the fractionated palm kernel oil. Palm kernel oil is high is sat. fat anyway but somehow they cook it with chemicals to make it even more so.

Carbs: Most of the sugar is replaced with Maltitol. It is still sugar and has a Glycemic index of about 50 (table sugar is about 60). Maltitol can Cause Intestinal Discomfort as well (like most of the sugar alcohols.) Part of that may come from the Fructooligosaccharides - which is apparently an indigestable gum that bacteria in the lower GI love.

At any rate - tastes great but really just a candy bar.

First, the bars taste good, just pick a flavor you like. Second, the nutrition mix is perfect with very low carbs and a good protein weight. I could buy more expensive bars elsewhere, with slightly better stats, but these are great!

Some report melting problems. When it is hot and you get a shipment, don't open the box or take the shrink wrap off (if it is), just put it in the freezer for an hour or so, then sit on the counter. The chocolate and fill will return to solid form, and not stick to the wrappers when you unwrap a bar to eat it.

I've been using these kinds of products for 40 years (Joe Weider and York Barbell started it all) and the EAS bars are fantastic, newbies just need to learn how to deal with summer heat issues.

These are the first low-carb bars I've tried which left me wowed at the taste and texture (and I've tried a lot) aside from one which I can no longer find anywhere. In my experience, they also digest far better than some do for those who have slight sugar-alcohol sensitivities. They are like big chewy chocolate chip granola bars but then double the chocolatey-ness. I wish they were lower in fat, as I'm just trying to avoid sugar and would prefer to avoid most fat, especially saturated fats unless they are adding true nutritional value as with nuts. However, this tends to be a problem with almost all low-carb bars. The other two downers, one typical and one less so are: (1) The outside is prone to melting and sticking to the wrapper, but at least it melts just like normal chocolate instead of turning into some weird substance like most bars' coatings do (and this coating is so yummy that you may find yourself licking the wrapper). And (2) the size of these bars is not compact but more like a rice krispy treat, making it slightly less ideal for travel.

I've been happy with the EAS CarbControl bars I've purchased from Amazon. They're pretty fresh (sometimes the ones I get from WalMart are not so much) and I've always loved the product because they're so protein and fiber-heavy that they leave me satisfied until lunch. I just wish they'd stick to their flavors. Whenever I get to really liking one (like the old chocolate strawberry mousse - I really miss that one) they discontinue it and I have to find another. This is the best chocolate-flavored one I've found.

Of all the low carb bars I've eaten, these are one of the best. A little sweet but not too rich. They are crispy and not as dense as many others but they are still filling. If you are not familiar with low carb bars, they all seem to leave you needing a bottle of water when finished. These do that too but not as bad as most.

My husband had me order these for him while he was on the Atkins diet. He really liked them, a little too much he thinks. They were a great thing to keep in his drawer at work for when he needed a snack, but had no low carb meal available. The only downside is that they are too good tasting and he kept eating these instead of meals!

Don't waste your time ordering them from Amazon. The 2 boxes I ordered were stale.
I am very disappointed. I used to buy these ALL the time, but now no one sells them in 12 count boxes.

Be sure to eat these over a drop cloth, as the chocolate flakes all over the place.

These are high in saturated fat.

Taste is not bad.

thats what it taste like..as good as..I cant believe this things are good for you..they taste too damn good..Ive been buying these for 5 yrs now...my little treat after a long workout..YUMMY ! says my tummy.
