The Ultimate LA Food Lovers Guide,
By
This review is from: EAT: Los Angeles 2011: The Food Lover's Guide to Los Angeles (Eat Los Angeles: The Food Lovers Guide to Los Angeles) (Paperback)
Not since "The Food Yellow Pages" has there been a great foodie guide for Los Angeles. Written and edited by those in the know regarding the LA food scene, "EAT" is chock full of interesting info, sources, restaurants, markets, etc. Meticulously updated from last year, this third issue is the best guide I know to eating in LA.

doesn't leave my glove compartment,
This review is from: EAT: Los Angeles 2011: The Food Lover's Guide to Los Angeles (Eat Los Angeles: The Food Lovers Guide to Los Angeles) (Paperback)
Finally a comprehensive guide which doesn't appear as biased or the mere reflection of fads or L.A.'s food gurus and pundits! Perfect to find a restaurant in an area you're driving by and much more: great stores and wine shops to fulfill any gourmet...

The Most Reliable guide to Restaurants & Food Sources in LA,
This review is from: EAT: Los Angeles 2011: The Food Lover's Guide to Los Angeles (Eat Los Angeles: The Food Lovers Guide to Los Angeles) (Paperback)
If you eat and shop anywhere in LA Co, you need EAT: Los Angeles 2011. I discovered new restaurants, food markets and food-related service firms (caterers to knife-sharpeners) both close by and worthy of a trip.
What makes this guide different is that it's the sum of knowledge of food professionals, the folks who write for the LATimes and Westways among other publications, and who also blog about food. They know whereof they write. I keep a copy of the book at home, another at work, one in the car. You never know when you're going to need this invaluable reference work to find a restaurant, food truck or specialty market!

Eat-LA A Must Have Resource for Foodies,
By Roxy Rubell (Los Angeles, CA, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: EAT: Los Angeles 2011: The Food Lover's Guide to Los Angeles (Eat Los Angeles: The Food Lovers Guide to Los Angeles) (Paperback)
I've been buying the Eat-Los Angeles guide ever since it first came out a few years ago. I keep a copy in my car as well as in my office so I am never stumped for finding a great place to go, no matter what part of the city. It's also a great gift for fellow foodies or if you know someone who may have recently re-located to the City of Angels. Love this book!

This review is from: EAT: Los Angeles 2012: The Food Lover's Guide to Los Angeles (Eat Los Angeles: The Food Lovers Guide to Los Angeles) (Paperback)
A handy guide to sources for food and selected places to eat in Los Angeles city and county. However, it has one glaring drawback: the authors break down lists of restaurants by regions (i.e. Eastside, Koreatown, West of the 405, etc.) and those recommended for what they specialize in (sushi, burgers, brunch, etc.), but they didn't provide an index of eateries by their cuisine. So if you don't have the time or don't want to scan page after page in search of a Mexican, or Middle Eastern, or Greek, or whatever, restaurant to try -- then you'll have to find another Los Angeles dining guide whose authors took a leap towards common sense when they put it together.

This book was filled with great information about restaurants in the LA area. I liked the fact that it was divided into sections.

Very nicely organized book, great quality, good descriptions, very informative and published on good quality paper (don't see it too often these days). It is also organized in a very nice manner.

so eater friendly,

Who doesn't want to know where to get a knife sharpened; and who makes a good scrambled egg on a Sunday (or a Tuesday night). This book makes good eating and all things related to eating (i.e. cookware shops) easy to find. I usually have to diagram sentences in most restaurant reviews - they are mostly about writing style with flowery or overly cute descriptions. This book covers a lot of ground with straightforward information in a compact format. A very welcome addition to any food lover's library.

A great resource for both locals and newcomers to Los Angeles. This book is thorough, well-written, and obviously put together by folks with a deep knowledge of the city.

A "must have".,

I have yet to be disappointed by one of their recommendations.
If I find myself in an area of LA which I am not familiar with, I know I can rely on "Eat LA" to guide me to the right spot. After I checked out the first one, it became my default gift to all my friends (foodies or not). I now own the 3 editions and will look out for whatever these pros continue to publish. |
