My review below was written for the "ET Tech 5600mAh Power Bank" back in Dec 2013. Unfortunately, Amazon loves to move reviews and products around. Now my review appears under the product page for "EC Tech 18000mAh Dual-Port Power Bank". I don't like this practice either, as it creates confusion for readers. As usual, use caution when shopping on Amazon.

From the outside, this EC TECHNOLOGY 5600mAh External Battery Pack looks EXACTLY the same as another power bank I have previously tested, the PowerBot PB5600. However, based on my testing, they have very different control circuits, and contain different capacity batteries inside.
I tested the capacities of both units, using the same method, with a 5-ohm power resistor as load.
- The PowerBot unit delivered an average power of 4.91W for 183 minutes. This means a total output energy of 15Wh
- The EC Tech unit delivered an average power of 5.08W for 210 minutes, which is equal to 17.8Wh
(see the "Output Power vs. Runtime" chart I uploaded to 'Customer Images section for details)
Assuming energy conversion efficiency of 80%, I can estimate the PowerBot unit's internal battery to be 5060mAh, or 10% lower than advertised. The EC Tech unit's battery is estimated to be 6000mAh, or 7% higher than advertised.
Notes on the control for this EC Tech unit:
- A short pulse on the power button turns on the USB output power
- A long press over 5 sec turns off the USB power.Read more ›
This battery pack is very nice looking black case that is very strong. It is very solid and as hard as a rock. It seems to be built really well. It has two USB ports on the front. One of them is higher powered 2.1 Amp and the other one is 1.0 Amp. The higher powered port is best for charging larger devices like an iPad and the smaller port is best for smaller things like a cell phone. It comes with a micro USB cable for charging it. It also comes with several other adapters including a 30 pin connector. It also has four LED lights on the front that tell you how much charge is left in the battery.
Overall I am pretty impressed with this battery pack. The only down side is its very large size. However there are a lot more good things about this battery pack than bad things and I am very happy with it.

At 18,000mAh of battery power, it is at the top of the power game. I have only seen one other battery at 20,000mAh and it was more expensive. This is a very fair price. Considering that it can charge your phone (I have an iPhone 4S) about ten times and a tablet (I have an iPad2) three times, before you need to recharge the device.
It also has two ports (which is now standard) with one at 5V, 1.0A and the other at 5V, 2.1A for a slightly faster charge to your device being charged. If you do charge two devices at once, a full charge will take a bit longer than if charging just one. As a nice novelty, it has 3 LED modes: SOS mode, power status mode and highlight mode. The ‘pindicator’ shows power levels in 25% increments.
The size is BIG. It is exactly 6.6” x 4.7” x 0.5” inches and weighs 1 pound-2.4 ounces. It would complement a large Android but it is not the kind of battery you can slide into a pocket. It is meant for office or briefcase use.
I always recharge when it gets below 20%. It takes about 3-4 hours to fully charge. Overnight charging is the best way. All external batteries claim more than 500 cycles of charging but that would take a few years to use up. You've have to recharge it every other day for almost three years to get to that point. This also the first external battery that advises against charging and using your device at the same time. This can evidently lessen the number of battery uses over its lifetime.Read more ›
