For $190 you have certain expectations, and Ecco delivers on many. Their shoes are super-long lasting, so the upfront cost is more than made up for in the long run.Two areas where they could do better: 1) The shoelaces they provide do not stay tied unless you double knot. But, the laces are not long enough or rather are just long enough to make that knot, provided you pull them a little tighter than you'd like. Usually, I just go out and buy the correct size laces, and ones that stay tied. 2) Ecco made a decision a few years back to emboss their logo on the outside panel of each shoe. This does nothing to improve the look and actually makes them look a bit more like orthopedic shoes, which I guess they are. I just prefer not to advertise that I'm wearing orthopedic shoes. Ecco could easily make these 5 star shoes with these two changes. Longer laces would cost them a few cents; removing the embarrassing embossed logo would probably save them money.

Very flawed shoes for the price and Ecco's brand.,

I bought these when they still cost over $160. First off, I would not recommend buying Apron Toe Tie models---dirt and sand stain and get stuck in the stitching. The soles seem to be durable but are not made of the higher grade material that was used in my previous pair of Ecco shoes, the Berlin Plain Toe. Always get plain toe so you don't get grit stuck in the stitching. Another flaw is the upper/outer edge of the base of these shoes busts open in little flakes when you accidentally kick things. Then you have to rip off the little leather flakes and color the beige exposed inside to match the color of the rest of the shoe, or glue them back in place. The top leather is stiffer and tougher than that of the Berlin however, which means it isn't as soft. You'll spend a lot of time repairing this shoe! One thing that this shoe does have going for it is you can get the extra wide sizing not available in many other Ecco shoe models. Why it took Ecco so long to even having sizing options for width available or why they don't have these options for every model I don't know. This shoe model may be worth it at under $100 as of now but it clearly isn't worth it for close to $200. I would buy another model of Ecco shoes.

Great product, have owned several pairs. Be aware that all are EU sizes, but no width options from this vendor (or any other online it seems). Poor buying and product line sourcing by vendor.

I was looking for a "dressy casual" brown shoe that I could wear to work or for leisure. My last pair (not Ecco) was nice but I wore through the sole in about a year. These Ecco shoes live up to what the Ecco brand stands for in my opinion - superior durability while maintaining a nice and dressy appearance. In wearing them for the first few times, I am confident these shoes will last for a long longer than the previous pair of name-brand shoes I had. The color goes with most shades of brown and tan quite well. Very happy with the purchase. Would make it again, and will consider Ecco shoes for my next purchase. Jon |
