Good fit and comfortable, July 24, 2009
This review is from: ECCO Men's Berlin Slip-On (Apparel)
I am first time user of ecco brand. These shoes are a bit expensive for me but they look very nice. These are well constructed and very comfortable when walking. The shoe is light and fits perfectly around the foot. I bought these after trying out many other brands. My feet really got hurt with some of the other well-known brands. One observation about the shoe size is that even though it says US 8.0, it actually is of UK 8.0. I normally wear US 8.0~8.5 shoe size. However, for this brand, I am wearing U.S 7.0 ~ 7.5 size (European 41) without any uncomfortable feeling. [...]

Expensive and worth it., October 17, 2010
This brand of shoes was recommended to me by a co-worker. When he told me the price, my jaw almost dropped. Then he started talking about comfort and durability, and I thought "Two dudes talking about shoes - WTH?" I have had gout attacks, and dress shoes (which I have to wear every day) have been uncomfortable and painful. I was intrigued, by my friend's enthusiastic endorsement of this shoe brand, so I thought I would do some research. Reviews on the internet seem to display an almost cult-like exuberance for this brand. So I decided to head over to my local high end retailer (call first, because some that advertise them on their website, do not carry them in the store). Dillard's had them in stock in my size (US10 EU44). I went in, and tried them on.
This is where things got weird. THESE ARE THE MOST COMFORTABLE DRESS SHOES I HAVE EVER WORN. It took me all of 1 minute to decide to buy these shoes. The shoes I had on my feet, I have had for 2 years (had them re-soled, because I thought they were bearable) they will never touch my feet again! I got the pair on sale, because the above mentioned retailer is going to stop carrying them. I started to walk away, then did a 180 and asked the excellent salesman if he had a pair in brown (Ecco calls it rust). My lucky day once again! He had a brown pair in my size. I cannot believe that I dropped the equivalent of a car payment (OK a used car payment) on two pairs of shoes. I would almost rather walk now than drive. I wish I would have found out about this brand three years ago when I started having foot problems. I am so excited to not have foot pain (which I had slowly just grown accustomed to being part of my life).
These shoes come in European sizes. I cannot tell you if they run large or small. The Berlins are plenty wide for me (great!) You really should try them on before you buy them. I bought them locally with no regrets. That choice is yours. These shoes feature leather on the inside and out which probably accounts for the premium price. They seem to be very well constructed, and come with a 1 year warranty. I have only had them a week, and already have gotten my money's worth out of them in comfort. Now I sound like those other fanatics. Sorry, I just gotta tell everyone who will listen, how great these things feel.
As for style: I am a little "mature" for this style, but it is a really good looking shoe. If you travel via airline and need a slip on shoe, this is a great style. It has a wide toe box which is perfect for anyone with bunnions or anyone who wants to avoid getting them (thankfully I don't have to deal with that too).
UPDATE: 12/2011 I have had these shoes for over a year and a half now. I wear them nearly every day, and they are still in great shape. There is no cracking in the leather, and I am absolutely amazed at how little wear there is on the heel (considering I had to have my last shoes resoled after about 2 years). These shoes are still comfortable and look great. They are a great value.

ECCO shoes, October 18, 2008
Great shoe. High quality. My husband, who has to walk a lot as a high school principal, likes them so much that he has them in both brown and black.
