5.0 out of 5 stars Man are these expensive or are they?

They carry a high price tag but these shoes are worth every dime.
They mould to your foot like no other shoe I've ever had.
Have you ever had an old pair of shoes around and kept them depsite the fact they were all worn and tattered but they felt so good you didn't want to part with them?

Well these shoes fell that...

1.0 out of 5 stars Ecco shoes over-rated
A few years ago I bought a pair of ECCO shoes similar to this one. They had rubber-like soles with an embedded oval containing the word ECCO. I wore them on a two-week trip around the eastern Mediterranean, and when I got home I found that the oval on both shoes had disappeared, leaving a big oval-shaped hole. The local shoe repairman said he could not resole ECCO shoes,...

Well these shoes fell that good practically out of the box.
I bought them for hiking and I can do more miles with less discomfort than with ANY other pair of shoes I've ever had.
They will last long enough for you to think that these are the LEAST expensive shoes you've ever had.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great shoe from ECCO, August 11, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is my third pair of ECCO shoes and I am again very satisfied. This style passes for a casual dress work shoe yet won't look ridiculous if worn with a pair of jeans. Great for travel when you only want to pack one pair of shoes. In fact I slipped them on and headed for the airport.

Somehow Ecco manage to create a comfortable soft leather shoe that lasts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, September 6, 2008

This pair of shoes replaced a pair that I had been wearing for five years or so. They were comfortable, looked good enough for the intended purpose, and durable, so I really saw no reason to change. I expect the new pair to be of the same quality and to last as long. In my opinion, these shoes are a great value.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ecco shoes over-rated, June 28, 2009
This review is from: ECCO Men's Seawalker Tie Oxford (Apparel)
A few years ago I bought a pair of ECCO shoes similar to this one. They had rubber-like soles with an embedded oval containing the word ECCO. I wore them on a two-week trip around the eastern Mediterranean, and when I got home I found that the oval on both shoes had disappeared, leaving a big oval-shaped hole. The local shoe repairman said he could not resole ECCO shoes, so I sent it to the recommended repair depot, which resoled them with Vibram soles. I hardly ever wore them until this year on a two-week trip to Russia. Halfway through the trip, the sole partially separated from the shoe. I repaired it with duct tape to get through the rest of the trip.

Given the problems I've had, I don't understand why ECCO shoes are so highly rated; from now on I will buy only Merrell shoes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Feet of Clay...., April 28, 2011

Comfortable? Certainly.
Stylish? Undoubtedly
Expensive? For me, any show over 125 bucks qualifies as spendy.
Value? No way!

These shoes have everything going for them EXCEPT build quality. Buying Ecco Shoes is like buying a set of tires for your car which only last for a couple of thousand miles.

I've owned two pair of Ecco shoes (spaced out by 5 years!) and I've gotten burned each time. They do not stay together. The soles basically start coming apart with the first step you take in them. Pieces of it separate from the sole, which is intentionally soft and pliable for comfort. I never got more than 6 months with either pair of shoes.

As I said, they have everything down pat *except* creating a shoe which lasts. If they can't fix a problem in five years, it's doubtful they every will. Choose another brand and spare yourself the grief.

2.0 out of 5 stars poor workmanship, August 22, 2010
This review is from: ECCO Men's Seawalker Tie Oxford (Apparel)
I've owned Ecco shoes for years. I was always impressed by how well they were assembled and how long they lasted. This pair is different. The insole has come loose and the stitching is failing. I will think twice before considering this brand again. For the price I expect top quality, not cheapo stuff.

These shoes are plain enough to be worn nearly anywhere, they're very comfortable and the sole is very solid and durable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent shoes, September 12, 2009

I ordered these shoes because as a high school teacher, I am on my feet all day and have had lower back problems. These shoes are comfortable and have made a difference in arch support that helped my back. I recommend them.

I bought a pair of the Seawalker's 8 years ago and wore them almost daily for about four years, and then occasionally for the remainder. One day I noticed the soles started to fall apart, and I hated to throw them away, since the uppers were still in good condition. These are great shoes, very comfortable and very well made. ECCO makes some of the best shoes I've ever owned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seven years, still comfy, July 24, 2008
This review is from: ECCO Men's Seawalker Tie Oxford (Apparel)
These were the first "grown up" shoes I bought. That was seven years ago! They're still comfortable and looking good enough for business casual. Very comfortable for daily wear, and pretty good for walking and even light hiking. If these ever wear out, my next pair will definately be Ecco and probably the same style.
