another great cd by john abercrombie,

I've been a fan of John Abercrombie since his first album, "Timeless". He is what i like to refer to as "cool jazz". Very laid back sound, refreshing and entertaining. "Animato" is just another of this great artist and his ability to tell a story with his soft yet true guitar sound. The entire set is great, but my favorite cut from the cd is "ollie mention". very smooth, almost like a fine aged scotch to the ears. when you listen to it as well as the(other cuts from the cd) you get the impression that he plays guitar with little to no effort at all. I had the pleasure of seeing him in New York a while back and have to say it was one of the best spent evenings of my life. for those of you out there that are familiar with him this cd and others know what i'm talking about-but for those of you out there that are new to the jazz experience "try John" first. you certainly won't regret it.Burjs Laure'l
