I don't what I expected, maybe a clip, or something. The way they attach is by safety pin, which makes them feel a little loose, and cheap. Other than that, it's a good working product.

They are small, light weight, seem well built, and the pullout length is just about right. I bought two of these (similar product but I think different brand name) like over 15 years ago and they are still ok. I hope these ones last just as long.
