5.0 out of 5 stars couldn't wait to read it again!!!
this book is every girl's fantasy - the most beautiful, strong woman paired with an outragously handsome rogue - with a historical setting. It is a shame this book is out of print because it is a beautiful story and more should read it. I had a warm feeling of happiness when I shut the book after finishing it the first time.

This review is from: Ecstasy's Promise (Paperback)
I found this book horrible- and barely made it through until the end.

Set in the south during the civil war, the heroine, Victoria, starts out noblely enough- preventing a rape from Union soldiers and burning down her own house and plantation to save it from being burned down by the armies.
Her and her bodyguard/best friend Bodine escape the path of the army and danger by traveling to Texas to stay with Victoria's grandmother. It is while in Texas that she meets Edward.

And it all went downhill from there.

Edward is a self-righteous, pompous womanizer and owner of a ranch empire who always get what he wants.
Victoria is already engaged to a wonderful, handsome, charming man from back home who all of a sudden doesn't love him anymore because she met Edward.
During the entire book- she does or says something he misinterprets, he does or says something she misinterprets, he does something stupid, she does something stupid...and it ends whenever she does something REALLY immature and stupid and he does something equally arrogant and stupid.

My favorite parts were Bodine and Victoria's loveable and strong grandmother.
The less than heroic hero and the all too immature heroine could have been easily left out.
