Acclaim made an equity investment in the wrestling series, and Anarchy Rulz, their second PlayStation title in the Extreme series, is fully loaded with plenty of features and gameplay modes. Plus, you'll have 34 wrestlers that you can select from, including Tommy Dreamer and Super Crazy (note the easy-to-remember names!). Of course, knowledge of the franchise helps immensely.
ECW includes a Create-a-Wrestler option that lets the would-be manager have fun with creating fighters. You can even put together your own four-person wrestling posse, complete with theme songs, personality clashes, and a logo for your group. Anarchy Rulz also comes with the typical wrestling game modes: exhibition, career, and tournament.
In terms of the action in the ring, this is where Anarchy Rulz shows its true colors. The camera's flutter and movement is very irritating, and the gameplay seems an exact replica of Acclaim's previous WWF titles. The wrestling action relies too much on grappling and not enough on the over-the-top action that the ECW is famous for. There are very few throws and no high-risk leaps or takedowns.
Crazed ECW fanatics or wrestling lovers should enjoy this game, while all others might want to pass. --Todd Mowatt

Rehash, but still Good.,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: ECW: Anarchy Rulz (Video Game)
I have to give it to Acclaim, they make the best rehashes i've ever seen. This game is a far larger improvement than Hardcore Revolution was to Attitude, but still lacked something incredibly new. The tables match is really fun, but sort of cheap, but I like how you can jump over the tables if they're in your way, nice touch. The inferno match is a cheap mode that's like a battle royal, with peanut butter and jelly looking fire on the outside. The backlot brawl was surprisingly decent. Some of the object are interactive, like the fence and the barrels, and there are a load of weapons and they actually hit the people realistically with the weapons (not swing them like you would throw a boomarang). Overall, I think this game is what ECW: Hardcore Revolution should have been, but Acclaim...you need to make a new engine next time.

Excellent ecw,
This review is from: ECW: Anarchy Rulz (Video Game)
A great game and had me entertained for hours. This was even without looking at the career mode. The game has been good although i cant find any caws for this game. Excellent Brimstone matchs+Tables. The best weapons and well unlimited tables, need i say more. The moves are even better than attitude with not as good entrances or clothes but much more good wrestlers and imitations... There we go and best yet barbed wire and lots of blood. The crowd rule and rule the match its got a lot of things that Smackdown 2 hasnt but a lot less but hey unlimited tables with crowd + n e move through them = good game!!!!!
