5.0 out of 5 stars Super heavy, but seriously bomb proof February 23, 2014
For those of you who have not seen this level 7 system of the Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System, manufactured for the United States Army, it is made by Wild Things, with a link here:

http: [...]

The coyote brown one is for the Marines, and the ACU green one is for the Army. Both of the jackets are identical to the Wild Things Belay jacket, listed here:

http: [...]

Now, it is heavy jacket at 2 lbs, 6 ounces. A key thing to note though, is that the exterior is 70 denier nylon. This jacket is exceptionally well built. I have a lot of ultralight jackets, but thorns, ice, or rough terrain would wreck them. This jacket is warm...super warm. It keeps you warm when resting, belaying, or sitting outside cooking food. It is really, really well built. If you want a jacket that will keep you very warm while being static, then this jacket does it like no other. I have Montbell, Merrell, and North Face jackets, and this one beats them all for warmth...and weight. It is also of note that the jacket is cut such that you can wear it over gear. I have worn mine over an Army fighting load carrier, but you could wear it over other layers, climbing harnesses, etc.

This thing is worth the weight if you want something very warm, and very durable.

Good milspec standard issue. I lost my puffy suit and this was exactly what I needed so I dont get billed something awful by CIF.
