Doesn't deliver,
By Jesper Ib (Hoejbjerg, Denmark) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A to Z of EDI and Its Role in E-Commerce (Paperback)
I had high expectations for this book, but I don't really think I got what I paid for. I realize that the book is not a programmers reference book (and indeed I am not a programmer) but I really expected it to explain in more detail what the EDI standard(s) are all about. Instead of doing that, it runs through several sections of implimentation scenarios and legal issues ... all covered on an very basic and generic level, such as "remember to train the operators", "the server most be have enough processing power" and "make sure that the managers understand the benefits of the system". While all of this advice makes sense, it applies to virtually any system aquisation and implimentation. The word "XML" is not mentioned once in the entire book - so draw your own conclusions.

Not technical enough for me,
By Poetry Fan (Crofton, MD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A to Z of EDI and Its Role in E-Commerce (Paperback)
When I read this book, I was hoping for some technical info on X.12 and EDIFACT. It's got some good coverage of management issues, but I would like to see more technical info.

Good overview for managers lacks tech. detail for technician,

This review is from: A to Z of EDI and Its Role in E-Commerce (Paperback)
This is a good book for middle management types deciding if they should do EDI. However, it lacks enough detail to help the systems analyst develop and deploy EDI applications.
