Product Description

Edition29 ARCHITECTURE is a visually stunning collectible magazine that focuses on showcasing the new generation of modernist architects and their creations through cinematic photographic storytelling.

This issue includes modern houses from Lithuania to Nagoya, Japan. Architect Shigeru Fuse discusses the concrete sculpture he created as the house in Akibo, with ultra modern sculptural interiors that seemed carved from cement walls.

Architect Ville Hara talks about about his Four Cornered house built to enjoy the acetic life on a remote Finnish Island with no running water or indoor toilet. This solar powered modern building lets the inhabitants live in the middle of nature and puts to use nature’s abundant resources. Japanese architect Kazunori Fujimoto talks about the House in Nasu and its unique cement walled enclosure. Spanish architect Maria José Sáez Domingo from Fran Silvestre Arquitectos discusses the modern, elegant and stunningly stark white house jutting out from a mountainside overlooked by a castle in Ayora, near Valencia.

Several slanting roofs arranged to point in two opposing directions provide the small rooms of the Complex House their own independent roofs with abundant natural light seeping in, giving this design a look of two rows of roofs sheltering a family in a tiny plot of land in Nagoya created by the architect Tomohiro Hata.

With 15 architects speaking about their residential work, this issue rounds out with stunning residential structures by architect Robert Edmonds in Kenwood, California to the curved glass wall embedded Lake Lugano House in Switzerland by architect Jacopo Mascheroni.

It's a little surprising that art and design book publishers are not yet aware of Kindle Fire's capabilities of presenting beautiful interactive books. Several millions of shipped Kindle Fires later, we're still see only a few or nearly none of good "coffee book style" books with an emphasis on images and videos, and leverage is really needed in the Amazon Appstore for nice interactive titles such as the magazine apps published by Conde Nast.
So here comes Edition29 : Architecture for Kindle Fire, this decent app reminds of how quickly the same publisher had rushed into the iPad publishing scene when the device was launched in 2010. Edition29's pivoting app was a book app titled Architecture as well, though this Kindle Fire edition welcomingly comes with new house cases designed by architects on different continents. On iPad, the publisher thus had been published more beautiful book apps with broad topics ranging from cars, sports, creative people to museums.
Edition29 Architecture for Kindle Fire shares the similar fluidity and sleekness of its iPad brothers, the UI is very attractive and the contents of photos, videos, plan drawings of the beautiful house cases are suitable for any kind of architecture and lifestyle enthusiasts. If you are one of the people who feel curious to see if reading a design book is possible on the 7-inch tablet, this book app is the worth your try. (If you have the similar curiosity/doubt about magazines, please do have a look on Wired's Kindle Fire app)
I enjoy reading and browsing this book very much, though sometimes I think the publisher are trying too hard to put so many pictures in the book.
