4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Little Shortstory March 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This short story was an interesting tale. Ms. Hickey calls this the first in her short romantic suspense series. I didn't really see too much romance in this one. What was there was more like a whisper of a hint of romance. However I was very impressed with ex-cheerleader turned private eye Lisa Paxton. This chick is a mix of every guys fantasy and hard boiled criminologist. When the sister of one of her old school mates walks into her office convinced something has happened to her sister. Lisa is all professional. That fact that she is willing to take on the case shows how serious she is about being a detective. Yet the speed with which she calls for a male companion when the case takes a turn from missing person to serial killer who is after Lisa herself made me like this female detective. Capable yet vulnerable, a draw for most red blooded American males.

The story is the typical crime drama and there really isn't a lot of mystery to it. However that can be overlooked after all it is a short story and there are only so many twists one can give in less than 7,500 words. In the end the bad guy gets his the girl saves the day with the help of her new male partner and we get to see how succinctly Ms. Hickey can write an entertaining tale of murder and mystery. Defiantly worth a read and I look forward to seeing more of Lisa Paxton and company in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars P.I. or P.O.'d? March 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As if solving crimes isn't hard enough, especially when you're trying to prevent your own death, add in a sexy new partner a.k.a. old love, who has eyes for the ladies, and either this P.I. is going to solve some crimes...or kill her partner.

You'll enjoy reading Eenie Meenie Miny Mo and look forward to the other stories in this series. :)

I'd like to be clear about the title. When I read the title I thought it was a book for children, by the sing sung voice and rythm the letters have, but I took my time to read the story and my mind changed since the first moment. It's a romantic thriller story. And the title refers to the name of a guy... Don't leave this away either judge it by its title as I do... Look for the two other books to complete your series

4.0 out of 5 stars Lisa should pack a .38! March 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
"Eenie Meenie Miny Mo," the first of hopefully many Lisa Paxton PI adventures, presents Lisa as a "take-control" alpha-female plagued with a tender heart.

Melton's story is a nice combination of realistic (but not profane in the least!) dialogue and crisp action sequences. I especially enjoyed the conversation at Roberto's between Lisa and one of her high school classmates, Bob.

One of the many things I like about Lisa is her insistence in carrying a Tazer instead of a real gun. The irony, of course, is that in a future Paxton Crime Story episode, Lisa is going to wish she had a .38 in her purse instead of a Tazer!

I give "Eeenie Meenie Miny Mo" 4.5 stars (it could have been 5 but for a few typos).

Ms. Melton graciously sent me a PDF of the story and this review is founded on that version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eenie Meenie Miny...OMG!!!! March 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cynthia Melton has done it again! Do you have a couple hours? Yes, then you MUST read Eenie Meenie Miny Mo!!! Lisa Paxton is a no-nonsense, sassy, sarcastic, pistol beauty who happens to be a Private Investigator too! I was so caught up in the story and characters that before I knew what happened...I finished the book. It was like watching a great episode of your favorite crime show on TV and then seeing the words "to be continued" at the end...and you go "ahhhh." Read it!!!
