Can we just clear up a few misconceptions?,
By Little Nell (Scotland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The EFT Manual (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) (Paperback)
There seems to be a great deal of confusion about costs for EFT materials and about what it is necessary to buy to become a competent practitioner. In actual fact, if you are ok about not having glossy covers and packaging, all of the materials are available for no cost whatsoever.
I think it is important to point out that you can become a very competent EFT user just by detailed study of the manual. If you want a nice shiny new book, buy a copy, but the manual is also available as a FREE e-book download from Gary's web site. You DO NOT NEED the DVDs in order to get some solid benefit from EFT as a self-help tool. If, however, 1) you wish to be a serious student of EFT and want to become an expert in these techniques and/or 2) you are skeptical about EFT and need to see lots and lots of evidence, you should seriously consider getting the DVDs. Another "reviewer" has noted that it costs $150 for 3 DVDs. Wrong! It costs $150 for 3 SETS of DVDs. This is 40 hours of film, plus audio content, wrapped up in nice packaging. However, it is possible to acquire the DVDs for "free" as well. If one person buys them, they are allowed to make up to 100 copies of each disk and to distribute them freely. (They are NOT allowed to sell them!) Buy some blank DVDs, find someone who owns the DVD sets and request a copy. There are loads of EFT groups and forums online where you can contact others who are willing to share, or to make a group purchase. And, in the interests of fairness, I'd like to point out that the money generated from sales is used to promote EFT around the world. Gary Craig makes no personal profit from EFT products.

I LOVE this book. I am so happy that Gary Craig came out with a manual for everyone that is formatted so that you can quickly read through it. I tried some of the techniques in this book and some blockages that I had went away. I was a stubborn one with some energy blocks that I could not overcome until I read this book. What a gift. EFT has changed my life. I have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (I am a veteran), EFT has helped me overcome some major trauma in my life. Thank you Gary Craig and Roger Calllahan for all of your work and for helping to make EFT available to the general population. This book gives many wonderful tips and insights that may otherwise takes years of practicing EFT to discover. This (and Linda Wallace's EFT DVD workshop and Roger Callahan's book) are by far the best purchases I have ever made. Life changing. Literally. Thank you. I highly recommend this book.

I thought it would'nt work either.,

After reading some of the negative reviews claiming that EFT
is nothing more than quakery, cold reading, snake oil etc, I thought I would respond. I'm highly suspcious and criticial by nature. I'm not much of a "believer" in anything. I know what cold reading is and I understand the mindset of those who seek a panacea. And those seek easy answers to complex and substantial problems. I didn't think EFT would work for me. A friend introduced me to meridian therapies and I was doubtful and highly resistant to even trying tapping. However I am the kind of person who sticks to the decisions I make and because of a friends urging I tried EFT. I worked with EFT for about two hours a night. Within a month The following happened. 12 years of significant back pain went away for good after 2 intense EFT sessions. 35 years of a chronic, daily Post Traumatic Stress Disorder went away, never to return after 6 eft sessions. Numerous other emotional issues evaporated over the course of the month. My mind feels much clearer now. I have more relaxed point of view. I saved a relationship from parting by becoming a non stressed person. My work is easier to do now. Life is easier. I do eft every day on the little and big stresses that pop up. Its interesting, fascinating and powerful. EFT is easy to learn and once you learn it, there is nothing more to buy. Its based on acupunture, which has about 4000 years of recorded use. To the skeptics; IT WORKS whether you like it or not! THIS Book is the OFFICIAL MANUAL by the MAN who started EFT. Isn't this the intelligent place to begin? There are many deviations of EFT (all good), but this is the one Manual where you will the form that has helped hundreds of thousands of people around the world. This is the first book to buy on EFT. After that check out Carol Look's book on EFT and Abundance. If you're on the fence about EFT, its time to spend ten bucks and give yourself an opportunity to experience the power of meridian tapping.

Mind-body Link,
By
This review is from: The EFT Manual (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) (Paperback)
I am thrilled that a manual--an excellent, easy to follow manual--for learning and applying Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is being made available to the general public. For three decades EFT has metaphorically hung around the fringe of the therapeutic community under different names, being invited into client sessions or out into the public only when an adventurous therapist or psychologist forayed into subtle energy healing. But as collective consciousness shifts and we better understand the significance energy has in both our physical and mental well-being (or lack of it), EFT is taking its well-deserved place among those healing techniques arising in the field of energy psychology.
In a nutshell, EFT combines some basic self-inquiry with sequences of "tapping" meridian points to clear emotions disruptions, or physical pain. The meridians are the energy "channels" through which our life energy flows and this energetic flow affects our muscles, tissues, and organs. Each meridian also has an associated emotional attribute; this is the link between mind and body. For example, if you have a fear of heights, you would begin with a statement such as, "Even though I have this fear of heights, I deeply and completely accept myself." Then follow the sequences Craig gives, which includes some tapping combined with eye movement (an aspect of EMDR): the whole process takes only a few minutes and anyone can easily follow the sequences without probing into unwelcome memories or needing any medical background. Naturally there are qualifiers: repetition and consistency are required, and the results vary with each person. Still, EFT has some astounding success stories, even with acute or chronic ailments, or long-held disturbances in our emotional energy. And when working with emotions in particular, there is no doubt that our skill level in getting to the fundamental causes can be cultivated and refined with practice and study--which is why this particular healing modality is so well-suited for therapists and psychologists. However, The EFT Manual gives all the tools needed to utilize this technique regardless of your background; the only requirement is a willingness to try it. You don't even have to believe it works. Be sure to check out "EFT for Back Pain" and "EFT for PTSD" by Gary Craig as well; although the "basic recipe" for EFT is the same, each offers more depth and focus into EFT and enriches your understanding of this simple and stunning mind-body healing technique.

Quantum,
This review is from: The EFT Manual (Paperback)
When I check out a book, I like to read the 1-star reviews first to see if I can pick up on any flaws in organization, logic or writing, to help me make my decision about buying. While reading the 1-star reviews on this book, I kept thinking of Columbus. When he made his first voyage, all the people who still believed the world was flat, some very educated and credible, said he was a fool to risk lives and resources, since the ships, going as far as they were, would no doubt fall off the earth into oblivian.
Energy medicine, energy healing, or by any other name, is, in my nonprofessional opinion, the greatest forward step ever seen in the healing arts. But people are threatened by change in what they see as their truth. I felt sad for the one reviewer who had done extensive work with an EFT pro for PTSD and not gotten results...the first I've heard of this...and feel because of my own experience that there was a key issue that wasn't addressed. He deserved to find peace. Having hope dashed tends to increase one's bitterness and desperation. I am not a medical professional, but educated, and know a little more history than that of Columbus above, including a bit about the history of medicine and what's going on in medicine today. EFT and others in this field are a quantum step...the magnitude of which we are only beginning to realize. There is a ton of science behind all of this that anyone can find if they care to look. I guess I can't give a website on here but will state just a couple references to get started: Bruce Lipton's book Biology of Belief (Lipton is a cellular biologist, and in my opinion a better lecturer than writer, although the book is more than worth your time. You can find him on YouTube.) Also, google the site for Leslie S. Feinberg's NMT, Neuro Modulation Technique. See Feinberg's video there. I learned EFT about four years ago. Since then I have looked at many other modalities in the field. It's exciting. I wanted to see what else I could find. No one else that I know of has given so freely, and so inexpensively, of what they happen to know about this field than Gary Craig. In fact his mission, when the website was in full swing, seemed to be to do everything he could to make it available to everyone. It appears to me that he gave to the extent of losing the reins of EFT...(Which, knowing him as I do from the DVDs, is a-okay with him at this point). All that is to say that anyone who thinks Craig is out to scalp the gullible is simply and totally in the dark and gives me a stunning example of how OFF a sincere individual can be. EFT opened me to a whole world of limitless possibilities. With EFT itself, my experience is limited compared to many people who have gone into this as a full time work (including many professionals in the healing fields, who seem to lean more heavily on this than on most other methods, once they discover its capabilities.) But, even so, my experience it impressive enough, as I have used this for myself, family and friends. It has never failed to bring positive results, some more startling than others, with physical as well as emotional issues. I use it daily and with success for myself for such things as fear or any other negative feelings, spider bites, ear lobe infections, bladder infections, pain...you get the idea. At the beginning I dove right into my own childhood abuse and every other trauma that seemed to keep me stuck. In fairness I will say that I have also used Tai Chi and anything else I could find to help me out, but the EFT has been a mainstay. With other people, my two broadest experiences involved one friend and one relative, each with serious trauma going back to childhood. These were both carried out by phone over many, many sessions and yielded totally satisfying results in both cases. I could only feel gratitude for the privilege of being a part of such change. As a last note, I should add that the first few weeks I used EFT, it felt "flat" and I seemed to get minimal results. After that I was amazed, while doing the same procedure. I'm not sure this is typical, but thought it worth mentioning. I take the time to write this review, only the second I've written, out of appreciation for what this method has done for me and the doors of understanding it has opened. It is being used all over the world. Love to you.

A complete introduction to Emotional Freedom Technique,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The EFT Manual (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) (Paperback)
EFT stands for 'Emotional Freedom Techniques' and specific techniques that therapists, physicians, ministers, counselors, social workers, and members of other healing professions can employ to alleviate emotional distress and the dysfunctions that arise from that distress in both body and mind. Beginning with an extensive introduction offering sage and sound advice on using the information and examples comprising the text, "The EFT Manual" goes into what can be expected from the application of EFT, the basic science underlying EFT principles and techniques, tips on applying EFT, a series of nineteen illustrative case histories applying EFT to a variety of issues from a fear of public speaking, to alcoholism, to lower back pain, to a fear of elevators, and more. "The EFT Manual" continues with informed discussions on common impediments to the use of EFT including 'psychological reversal' and collarbone breathing problems. Of special note is the chapter focusing specifically on shortcuts in the application of EFT. Enhanced with three extended and extended appendices, "The EFT Manual" is a complete introduction to Emotional Freedom Techniques and a highly recommended addition to personal, professional, and academic library Health & Psychology reference collections.

This book has been very helpful. I heard of EFT just recently and wanted to know more. I read the book quickly and was able to apply the technique within hours...I could have done it sooner, but I like to know just about everything about something first. Gary Craig is down to earth and uses terms that everyone can understand. He also provides some illustrations of the techniques. I have been using the technique on many people since my recent purchase of the book. My Twin Sister has a chronic disease and I have seen many improvements already. As for myself, it has been very beneficial in losing weight. I am taking it off slowly, but the greatest thing is this.....I'm not dieting! Thank you Gary for everything you do. I've given your book to many already and I plan to continue!

Getting Untangled,

This review is from: The EFT Manual (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) (Paperback)
All my adult life I have believed that, though it was not my intent, I was somehow to blame for the repetitive and damaging emotional dramas around me. I'd wept, fought, took medication, spent hours and hundreds of dollars sitting with counselors, and tried blaming others, all without finding anything to untie the knots in my gut.
Then I was introduced to the concepts of EFT. It began with the casual reading of an article in 1995, then a counselor trained in EFT, and finally, reading all I could find, including Gary Craig's "The EFT Manual." The medications and blaming are in the past, calm has replaced drama, and the knots are gone. Was I the "cause" of the trouble? No. But I was the "housing" of emotional circuitry gone amok. "The EFT Manual" helped clear those circuits, and show me the way to keep them clear.

A Notable Contribution to the Field of Energy Psychology,
By
This review is from: The EFT Manual (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) (Paperback)
Gary Craig has simplified thought field therapy (TFT) through his groundbreaking Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and with great generosity and skill has already spread EFT to some one million readers. Now through Energy Psychology Press, he has made EFT available for the next million users in this easy to follow and understand straight forward manual filled with step by step instructions and diagrams enriched by stories of those who have successfully used EFT. As the back cover suggests, whether you touch or tap the acupressure points, you can quickly begin a deeply healing connection with your energy system. The technique can help readers rapidly alleviate emotional distress as thousands of loyal adherents can attest. Therapists should have a copy of this classic in their waiting rooms and everyone should have one in their home. Field workers in critical and traumatic situations should take note of the rapid, positive effects of EFT. This excellent work has raised public awareness of energy psychology in a way that no other publication has and as such is a notable contribution to the field.

Gary Craig and EFT,
By
This review is from: The EFT Manual (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) (Paperback)
This book offers a powerful yet simple way to eliminate emotional problems and chart your road to success. The basic technique involves tuning in a disturbing issue (such as a phobia, trauma, depression, etc.) and tapping at prescribed locations on your body. Although it may seem odd, this actually eliminates the problem by promoting healthy energy balance and a clear mind. Now you're free to approach situations and life in healthier ways. Through EFT and his generosity, Gary Craig has made an outstanding contribution to the world. Thumbs up to you, Gary! --Dr. Fred P. Gallo, author of Energy Psychology: Explorations at the Interface of Energy, Cognition, Behavior, and Health, Second Edition (Innovations in Psychology) and co-author of Energy Tapping: How to Rapidly Eliminate Anxiety, Depression, Cravings, and More Using Energy Psychology.
