Product Description

Incredible piece of Star Wars history! Amazingly detailed, screen-accurate Stormtrooper Helmet from A New Hope. Cast from an original surviving prop from the movies! What a terrific prop replica from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope! To ensure that this beautifully crafted 1:1 scale plastic Star Wars A New Hope Stormtrooper Helmet retained all of the subtle nuances of the hand-sculpted original, the engineers at eFx Collectibles digitally scanned a surviving original helmet. It's an amazing and iconic piece of Star Wars history that you can wear! Comes with certificate of authenticity. Fearless and unswervingly loyal to the Emperor, Stormtroopers are the most recognized symbol of Imperial might. Encased in white armor over a black bodyglove suit, Stormtroopers make up the bulk of Emperor Palpatine's ground-based armies and the space-based imperial Starfleet. Their fearsome-looking helmets allow the soldier to breathe in the harshest of environments, including the vacuum of space, and are equipped with long-range communications, allowing these elite shock troops to be deployed with speed and efficiency to quell insurrections and maintain order across the many planets of the Galactic Empire. The distinctive design of the Stormtrooper was originally created by famed concept artist Ralph McQuarrie in 1975. McQuarrie designed several versions of the look of the empire's general infantry.

3.0 out of 5 stars IF YOU ARE A DEMANDING COLLECTOR THIS IS NOT FOR YOU October 30, 2012
Durability: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Length: 1:36 Mins
Basically is an empty plastic bowl, cheap plastic, no padding inside, green lenses, in my opinion is a toy not a collectors piece, just for kids, it seems more a kenner mask for the 80's, very easy to scratch, the assembly is not robust, it's glued and not for $150!!!!, take care of your money, thanks

My review for this eFX ANH (A New Hope) helmet is pretty much the same as my review for the eFX Empire Strikes Back helmet, see below. The difference between this helmet and the Empire helmet are grey teeth instead of black, and only 2 black stripes in the grey area of the ears compared to 3 on the Empire helmet. The grey side stripe areas have 7 black stripes and the dark blue jaw stripes count to 13 just like the Empire helmet from eFX. My modified review from the Empire helmet follows:

This helmet from eFX is the ANH "Stunt" helmet used in Star Wars, A New Hope (the real first Star Wars). eFX is the officially licensed seller of Star Wars replicas at this time so you are dealing with Lucas approved products. "Stunt" means it is modeled after the Storm Trooper helmets worn by Storm Troopers in the movie background and not the ones worn by Luke and Han, which are called "Hero" helmets (they are much more expensive from eFX). The main difference between "Stunt" and "Hero" are the flat green eye lenses. The Hero helmets have bubble eye pieces that look better. The Hero helmets also have real screws in the earpieces and shorter frowns. So enough of the minutia. For more info on the differences, Google "Hero versus Stunt".

The Good:
Glossy. It's white plastic, but looks very cool. It is shiny just like the ones in the movies.
2 mic tips on either side of the mouth with metal grills that are authentic, just like the real thing. Exactly like the real thing.
Rubber bottom lining around the entire helmet and a rubber brow, that's what you don't get with the cheaper helmets.
White styrofoam-ish head padding inside and around the eyepieces that makes it wearable.
You can see out of the green eyepieces.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT! October 28, 2012

This helmet is awesome! Roommate and I wore it with a white button down and skinny tie for Halloween and it was epic. Just wanted to share some things to know:
1. The helmet is really big. Can handle anyone's head no matter how big, but if you have a small head, it will jiggle around when you turn your head. To fix this, we just extended the padding inside. We ran to the dollar store and got one of those big yellow foam sponges for washing a car and cut that up. We put a block of foam on each side which fit out temples securely. Then we put a smaller block above the eyes to secure against our forehead. We attached with duct tape.
2. Helmets are lighter than you would expect. The plastic is a little thin, but still sturdy. If you drop the helmet on concrete with some force (no pun intended ^_^), it may crack and will likely scratch. Just keep it on your head and it wont be a problem =)
3. If you do add foam inside to secure your head, make it so you push your head back, not forward. This will make breathing easier and also it will be harder to see your eyes. In a relatively dark room you cant see eyes at all, but if there is a light in front of you, eyes can be seen slightly. Also, the gray grill in the front can pass air through (the black parts are holes with black fabric), but most airflow is through the bottom.
4. No way to drink or eat in these. Just be aware they will need to come off ;)
5. The piece where the ears are dont have holes in them, so hearing is severely diminished. Also be aware it may be hard for others to hear you.
6. These helmets are officially awesome... just be sure you can handle it

Most of these things seem negative, but im just writing it down so you are aware. Let it be clear, the helmets are really top notch! Im really happy with this purchase, even with the steep price. Highly recommend

4.0 out of 5 stars ANH STORMTROOPER HELMET - PCR October 30, 2012
Verified Purchase
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Item arrived promptly and matched the photo provided.

There was a scratch to the right eye lens and one of the foam pads had fallen out in transit. The box was in good condition, sealed, and was packaged well for shipping so I would consider these manufacturer rather than seller concerns.

As others have stated this is the "stunt" version of the helmet not the "hero" model. If that's statement is as meaningless to you as it was to me when I read it and then placed the order it basically translates to: the helmet being sold has flat green eye lenses rather than the dark smoke/black bubble lenses and is slightly less detailed.

The shape and color of the lenses makes a fairy big difference in the overall appearance of helmet and was admittedly not what I picture when I think of a stormtrooper. eFx, the company who produced this product, has multiple items on their website with a very similar name to the "eFX Star Wars a New Hope Stormtrooper Helmet 1:1 Scale Precision Cast Replica" as it is listed here on Amazon. The item being sold by this Amazon vendor is actually the "ANH STORMTROOPER HELMET - PCR" helmet not the "STORMTROOPER(tm) HELMET." This means the model you are buying here has no additional accessories (alternate lenses or stand). If you are considering a purchase of this item please take the time to look over the differences before placing your order to insure you are buying the item you really want.

For the price listed it's a good looking piece, if you can get past the eyepieces. I've read that there are aftermarket sellers of alternate lenses but haven't had any success tracking down exactly what I'm looking for yet. If any of you reading this review know of one please let me know.
