I am just starting in an award ribbon business, and not able to contract some things out yet. I could wear my Cricut out cutting circles, or drawing and cutting them with a scissors (ribbon head base and backing) but.

This punch allows me three sides access to the punch area to get the material into it and easy to see to line up where I want to punch. It is a little hard to push for the heavy cardstock/thin posterboard I use, but. Quick way to 'mint' a lot of circles for the job lot.

I was a little worried about what I would get for the $ but it is worth it. Top and bottom are plastic, with the metal shear ring and jaws (with springs) being metal. It does have a 'lock' to hold it flat to store. I will see how it holds up to heavy use and update this later, I have a run of 1200 (so x2) job to put out and that should show how it's going to hold up.

Edges are pretty crisp, in the light poster board; hope it doesn't turn into furred out chewed/gummed off.

So far seems well worth my money, but still wondering if it will hold up to heavy use.

*update, less than 24 hours and I am almost addicted to using it it's so easy for the task. It is a firm push though, takes a little oomph to cut the thin posterboard cardboard that I'm using. I have needed something to punch these sort of circles easily, rather than draw them on with a compass then cut with scissors, and this is a SNAP. Upper righthand corner, have to be careful, I have pinched my right ring finger a few times while bearing down (both hands). With the slight angle of 'open' that it sits, very easy to sight into to line up where to punch along an edge, push slightly so nothing slides, then bear down. Ka-chunk. Another perfect circle.

I use this because it really is the perfect size for my 2.25 inch buttons. It goes through multiple sheets of paper without fuss and it's easy enough to store.

To sharpen it, fold a few pieces of aluminum foil around some wax paper, and then use this punch to punch through it several times, the more the sharper it'll get. This will sharpen and lubricate this punch.

When i received the item

- first it didn't work well.
- i had my husband help me to fix it.
- stuck every time i use it.
- NOT SHARP enough.
- doesn't get a good result as we see it in the video.

I dont recommend anyone to buy it.

Seller MUST MUST MUST check the item before selling and delivering.

it is described that we can punch with one finger and that was absolutely wrong, you have to use your to hands to punch + it is very heavy.

I have many EK Success punches so I think this one was defective from the beginning as it is totally useless in less than a month. The lock that holds it flat was very difficult to operate and now the metal and plastic joint is not in line and the punch will not go down completely on the paper so you can not cut a circle at all. Will try a different brand of large punches although I have the 1 inch circle in this stream-lined style and the 1 3/8 inch in the Paper Shaper variety from EK.

It does Not sork very well, does not cut thin paper, only cardstock. I looks as if it lost the sharpness to cut.

It is my fault for buying this and not checking it out immediately. Mine does not cut a circle. The edge on the inside is scalloped and does not cut a circle but 4 staggered cuts. USELESS! Too late to return!

Update:
I just realized that the inside design is a star but the outer is a circle so when you try to punch, you get the intermittent cuts of a star but since the opposing side is a circle it is not cutting all the way through. No star, no circle just a ruined picture.

I purchased this product to make some of the decorations for my son's first birthday party. I found it to work very well---there were no issues with miscuts or sticking. It is quite heavy and sturdy, so I feel like I will be able to use this for many years to come. Based on the prices I have seen at Craft Stores like Michael's, I feel like the price offered on Amazon was a very good value.

I was in need of a 2.5" circular punch for a number of reasons, but mostly for making badges. The ability to line the punch up with your project before cutting the circle is really terrific. This ability saved me time and wasted projects compared to the "old" style punches where you have to kind of "guess" where the punch is going to occur.
