Highly recommend for NREMT testing!, January 3, 2012
This review is from: The EMT Basic Exam Review (Paperback)
In addition to my extensive course materials (including a lot of personal notes), misc. online materials, & another "flashcard" quick/small/portable study aid, *THIS* was probably the most helpful piece in my preparation for the NREMT exam. I had reviewed this book at a local brick-and-mortar but was kind of put off by the price tag (nearly double than what you'll see here) so I knew what it contained already. Once I spotted it on Amazon & a more reasonable price I knew it'd be a worthy purchase.
For those who have not had the advantage of thumbing through it already:
Book is split into 33 chapters/sections of quizzes (ranging from 25-90 questions) - though admittedly, in my state, the last section of advanced airways is inapplicable as EMT-B's cannot actually intubate (Ptl/Combi/King LT, yes; ET tubes, no) so I simply skipped that final section. There is also a CD that includes a practice test as well as specific questions in specific areas you can designate for a "study plan" - be aware that the CD does include a few seriously weird typos/sentence structures (CD gets 3-stars on its own).
Also worth mentioning that this book adheres to the AHA's 2010 change in CPR/etc as well as containing the National Registry's psychomotor exam sheets (to clue you in on specific "criticals" they will be looking for) *HOWEVER* these sheets are/have changed effective Jan.1, 2012 (as noted on the NREMT's site).
To summarize: the main reason you should check this out, borrow it, purchase it, etc is it will familiarize you with the test format & question styles you WILL see on the National Registry. A+ job by the author.
