A comfortable and budget-friendly alternative,
By Meg (Connecticut, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: EMU Australia Women's Bronte Lo Boot (Apparel)
My husband bought the Bronte Lo in black for me for Christmas and I've worn them just about every day since. I also have a pair of tall Uggs, which I find have less arch support than my EMUs--they're both very comfortable and provide equal warmth, but I'd choose the EMUs if I was planning on walking around NYC all day.
There's really no difference in look, so if that's what you're after, these will save you $60+ over comparable Uggs. But remember these are suede with a wool lining whereas Uggs and the next level up for EMU, the Stinger, are sheepskin in and out (which is softer). To me, the wool lining is soft enough to wear without socks and the suede upper is thicker and will look newer longer than the sheepskin. I like both versions, but if you're on a tight budget, you will definitely get your money's worth with the Bronte. EMUs run a little big and wide and they will stretch (plus the wool will compress) within a week, so by all means size down. I'm a true 8.5, ordered an 8 and they're roomy enough to fit a thick sock. Do yourself a favor and spray them with a leather/suede protector before wearing them outside to prevent water, salt and mud stains.

They do run large.............,
This review is from: EMU Australia Women's Bronte Lo Boot (Apparel)
These are nice boots but as another reviewer has said they tend to run large. And now I notice the product page even says half sizes should round down. I wear a size 9 and a size 9 boot in this style is wearable for me with thick socks but if I wore an 8 and 1/2 I am sure I would have had to send them back. There's a velcro strap on the side for ease in pulling them off and on though the boots are so large it isn't needed and tightly fastening this strap doesn't do a whole lot in making the fit any snugger. Otherwise these are sturdy, warm, comfortable boots at a fair price.

Very well made but runs big,
This review is from: EMU Australia Women's Bronte Lo Boot (Apparel)
The style and color are very cute. And they are warm and comforatble. I only wish I had purchsed a size smaller. They run a little big. I've had to wear very thick socks with them

Bronte Lo Boots,
By Jen "Jen" (Cary, NC) - See all my reviews

I purchased the Bronte Lo Boot about a month and a half ago and wore them probably 2 times a week in good weather conditions. They run very large in size though.. usually I wear a 6, I ordered a 5 and they were still really big. I really enjoyed the boot until now, when the whole bottom rubbery part of one of the boots broke off (starting at the toe down to the middle of the boot). I have a pair of UGGS that I've had for three years now and are still in great condition that I wear just as frequently. I strongly recommend spending a little extra for the UGGS that are more durable and last longer than these.

Go for the Emu Stinger Instead!!,

This review is from: EMU Australia Women's Bronte Lo Boot (Apparel)
I bought these boots and the Emu Stinger Lo boots as well. The difference in the quality is amazing. The bronte boot has many flaws: the sizing is off by a whole size (I got 6 instead of my usual 7), the outer suede is not as soft and flexible, the inner lining comes out in chunks, and the inner lining is hard and itchy. The stinger lo boots are well worth the extra money: they fit true to size, the outer sheepskin is soft and flexible, the inner lining is thick, soft and as comfortable as a slipper, and they fit true to size. Don't waste the money on the lower end...spend the extra $30 and get the stinger lo by emu!

I must say that these boots are comfortable, the only problem is when you order, you MUST drop down, yes, I repeat, DROP DOWN two (2) shoe sizes, these boots STRETCH out and the it feels like you have moon boots on. I bought three pairs, and I fit into my daughters size perfect, (I'm a size 8,got a size 7, but fit in a size 6 when it comes to EMU's. I really do like my UGGS, but I don't want to ruin them, so I bought these. Worth the money, they clean up easier than UGGS, and are comfortable. I will be purchasing more of these boots again. So remember when ordering, get the boot TWO SIZES SMALLER! You will thank me for it.

Great boot for under $100,

I have to say that I was torn with whether to go with this style Emu or the more expensive sheepskin. I decided with the suede style and I was extremely happy with my choice. First, the price, I cannot afford to pay more than $100 for any pair of shoes that I purchase. Second, the sole and arch support I found to be better than other brands I have found. And lastly, the merino wool keeps your feet so warm but not sweaty at all. The only somewhat negative thing is that you can't wear them barefoot, but that wasn't really an issue for me because I never wear shoes or boots without some kind of socks or peds. As far as the size, I am a true 9.5 so I ordered them in a 9, they fit beautifully and definately stretch out so don't order them big.

These boots fit about a half size down. I wear a 9.5 or 10 and a 9 fits me fine. I bought these for my mom after I've had the stinger hi boots for a few years. These were less expensive than the stingers, but not as soft and flexible. She hasn't worn the boots at all, but I'm guessing that they will soften up the more she wears them.
Great boot, way cheaper than UGG's and high quality. I really like the support that the foot-bed gives If you truly want an Australian sheepskin boot then go for the "stinger" version. The "bronte" is more of a suede with wool on the inside which is cheaper, just as functional, but if you wear them all the time like me, I would rather have the "stinger". If you only wear them on occasion then go for the "bronte".

LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM !!!!!!,

This is my second pair of EMU's, not because the other pair wore out, just because I love them so much. They are the most comfortable shoe that I have ever had on my feet. They provide comfort from the first time you put them on, and continue to break in and mold to your feet, becoming even more comfortable. I even put them on when I get up in the morning instead of slippers. You can wear them with or without socks, your feet do not sweat in them. These are my favorite shoes !!!

Are they really Australian?,
By Emily (upstate NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: EMU Australia Women's Bronte Lo Boot (Apparel)
I ordered a pair of these in black from a sporting good site, but read through reviews for many similar products before deciding on the Emu Australia Bronte Lo Boot.
Pros: - Very affordable alternative to Uggs - Cozy and warm - They look great if you like this style of boot. I have gotten many compliments on them. Cons: - These absolutely do run large. I typically wear a 9 or 9 1/2 and found that an 8 fit perfectly, with or without socks. - The wool lining (rather than more expensive shearling, which is what some Emus and all Uggs have) tends to pull apart, so i occasionally pull my foot out with a clump of wool. - They claim to be Australian, and may well be made of Australian materials, but make no mistake these are made in China! Despite the cons, I felt that these boots were worth the price and do recommend them! |
