3.0 out of 5 stars Pre-publication Review Missing
Spelling errors, bad grammar, incorrect facts, diagrams not consistent with text. Page xiv tells the reader that you will be learning Autodesk Inventor. Ignoring this, the book may have a lot to offer, but the author should have had an english speaking person review the material.

The book covers all the major and widely used commands. These commands are explained using graphics and pictures. The tech support provided by the author is efficient. I contacted him when i was having trouble to install wildfire on my pc. My query was replied within 24 hrs. Thanks again to the author.I recommend this book to all ProE users.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, September 16, 2003

This review is from: Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire for Designers (Paperback)
I visited amazon.com for the Wildfire book. The only reason I chose Sham's book was looking at the Table of Contents. This book covers all the major portions of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. Good work on Surface modeling chapter that I downloaded for free from the author's website. Buy this book if you want to learn Wildfire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must buy for Wildfire users, July 9, 2003

Jim Robert (St. Louis, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire for Designers (Paperback)
I am using Pro/ENGINEER since release 2000i and when I got Wildfire I thought I will learn it myself. But after playing with it for some time, I realized that I need some text to refer to. Then I got hold of this book. It is one of the best books available that someone can use to learn Wildfire. This book describes the solid modeling tools in Wildfire in detail with a lot of images and the language used is easily understandable. While working on engineering projects, I find this book very handy and I can refer to the explanation for modeling tools that are generally needed for most of the mechanical engineering projects. In addition to the explanation to the modeling tools, there are tutorials in the book with step-by-step explanation. A number of tips and notes are given in this book that helped me in increasing my efficiency. By using this book I not only learned to use Wildfire but also learned to use it efficiently. The Detailing and Drafting portion of Wildfire is also explained with lot of details, making it easy for me to generate various types of drawing views of assemblies and solid models.
The chapter on surface modeling that is available for free download also seems to be good with 2 tutorials although I have not started learning them. But seeing the images they seem to be good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on Wildfire, August 20, 2003
This review is from: Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire for Designers (Paperback)
I am a CAD Instructor in a community college. Recently I came to know about the release of the Wildfire book by Sham Tickoo. Similar to his style of writing books on other CAD packages, this book is also very easy to understand. In this book, there are number of tutorials that help my students to create complex models very easily. The contents of this book cover all the basic steps of designing. I would recommend this text to all the students wishing to learn Wildfire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Writer and Great Book, December 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire for Designers (Paperback)
Another good book by Professor Sham Tickoo. He created a very comprehensive 700+ page book that runs all the way through Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. If you worked through this book from start to finish (and with his pleasant writing style, you could), you'd have the entire program at your disposal -- not just a beginner's knowledge. Also note that it begins assuming you have no solid modeling experience, yet it does advance to the heart of Pro/E(and around it). I had some prior experience, so I started later on in the first surface modeling." (see the table of contents.)

The author also walks the tight-rope of hard-core technical teaching and pleasant "conversational" teaching quite well. The book is full of solved tutorials.

If you're like most, you have more than one book on Pro/E. Save time and money -- make this one your first. His writing style helps Pro/E go down a lot smoother.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks for providing such a great book on Pro/E, December 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire for Designers (Paperback)
This is the best book on Pro/E I have ever read. 700+ of pages of intelligent descriptions and tutorials. First you learn the part modeling, then you dive into chapters that cover a specific realms like Drawing, Assembly, Surface modeling, and a lot more.

As big as the book is, it does not cover everything and I dont think any book could. Hopefully the author comes up with a volumn II book that covers Pro/NC, Pro/MECHANICA, and more.
If you have Pro/E 2001 experience then you will adjust real quickly because this book flows the text very easily. In fact there are alot of tutorials side-by-side exercises. As a bonus the book comes with lot of teaching and learning aids. These are all available on the author's website www.cadcim.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful book, November 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire for Designers (Paperback)
Just like most of the other design companies, our company is also going thru a financial crunch. So when we upgraded our facilities to Wildfire, the company did not want to spend money on sending us for training on Wildfire. We were given this book and were asked to update ourselves to Wildfire. I must confess that although we had working knowledge of Pro/E, but this book helped us a great deal in updating ourselves to Wildfire. Most of the people in our modeling team went thru each and every tutorial of this book and we now are ready to face any modeling challenge. If not all, but the major credit of this goes to this book. We recommend this book to everyone who is looking to update himself to Wildfire or to learn it.

5.0 out of 5 stars You will definitely learn Pro/E Wildfire easily!, December 8, 2003
This review is from: Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire for Designers (Paperback)
This book is probably best suited for Intermediate level Pro/E Wildfire users who are looking for ways to improve their productivity. This is a 700+ page book that is very illustrative inside and has a killer tip per page. If you tried to learn these productivity and usage tips on your own without this book, you could spend at least an hour on each tip and still miss quite a few tips. This book will eliminate 1-2 years from your learning curve and save you hundreds of hours that can be spent on doing more projects.

Here's an example of how valuable the book is- if your client needs drawings of a product along with the BOM and title block then you will have to search for another book that discuss Drawing mode of Pro/E. Do you know how NOT to lose your work? This book alone saved me a lot of time when it happened to me (given enough time, it will definitely happen to all users). Not only the Drawing mode, using this book you can learn other modes of Pro/E that are helpful in completly designing a product. The book covers, Sketch, Part, Drawing, Assembly, Format, Report modes of Pro/E Wildfire. The chapter on Surface modeling is also available on the Author's website. If you want some sample chapters then visit www.cadcim.com.

This book is full of tutorials that you can practice. The best part of the tutorials is that while working on the tutorial you can never get stuck in the middle of the tutorial. If you have started a tutorial then there are 100% chances that you will be able to complete it. I have not found this quality of a book in any of the other books available on Pro/E Wildfire.

The best part about the book is that you can open the book on any page and learn something new for the day. If you spend a lot of time designing, you won't regret completing a tutorial per day and in the process benefit tremendously from the time spent with the book. The price is not too bad either so don't hesitate to buy this book. Enjoy the tutorials and exercises in the book!!!
