Editorial Reviews

Product Description

SCREENPLAY VERSION: Chang and Eng, the original Siamese Twins, led a very adventurous and unusually complicated life from the time they were born joined at the chest by a semi-flexible ligature in 1811 to their deaths in 1874. This dramatized biographical screenplay gives a glimpse of what they were like, how the world reacted to them and what they meant to each other. It is not an academically historical presentation, but a more readable, abridged version for entertainment purposes as well as an introduction to these fascinating and remarkable men, who left Siam to tour the world as human exhibits and later settled down in America to marry sisters and sire 21 children.

1.0 out of 5 stars Screen Play not a book., September 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ENTWINED (Kindle Edition)
Note: This is a screen play not a book. As such you get way more stage direction than actual content.
Not something anybody would want to read.

More About the Author

Chet Meyer's special love is the short story...but in a strange sort of way. His collections build and mutate as each separate story continues into the next collection, focusing on either the same or different protagonists, extending the range of the narrative and the depth of the characterizations. SHORT STORIES OF PEOPLE YOU'VE PASSED begins the series. As Meyer explains it, "Everywhere we go we pass people. Our misconception is that most of them are basically like us. They're not. And we're wrong to feel guilty about not interacting with most of them. If you had anything to do with any of the twelve main characters in these stories, some might have needed your help, some may have shunned you, some would have taken advantage of you and some even may have been a physical threat." In order, their tales continue in SHORT STORIES OF WHAT HAPPENED NEXT, a more mature, surprising and erotic collection in which the stories twist and interconnect in an intriguing way. By the end of the 12 planned collections, a richly interwoven 144-chapter new type of novel will have been created, one as multi-layered and strange as the city that inspired them: New York. Meyer is now at work on his third collection of the series, for the present called THIRD PERSONS' NARRATIVES.

Meyer's experience includes writing and editing for a monthly consumer magazine; writing and editing films and public service announcements; and teaching secondary level English literature and language, creative writing and film studies. His other published works include a promotional film script for Marvel Comics' Spiderman and Hulk characters; an article for the ENGLISH JOURNAL; a first-prize winning musical show tune lyric for a contest run by THE DRAMATIST, the magazine of the Dramatists Guild of America, Inc., of which he is a member; and a 7th Annual Rip Van Winkle Poetry Competition award.

Meyer's solo and collaborative writings are quite diversified. Those available for the Kindle reader are THE TOOTH FAIRY LEGEND: THE TOUCH OF KINDNESS (a lavishly illustrated children's read-along-and-listen chapter book that is also available from Amazon.com in hard cover with two accompanying CDs of word-for-word narration, music and songs), CONSPIRACY (a musical spoof of the Chicago 7 trial), ENTWINED (a screenplay about the lives of Chang and Eng, the original Siamese Twins), THE SAND TABLE SCORPION (a humorous Viet Nam War era romp through the jungle of combat and bureaucracy by a comic book style superhero), and THE FINAL PERFORMANCE OF "THE MOBLED QUEEN" (a two-act play based on the siege and fall of Troy that is set in the contemporary home of a college professor and drips with Shakespearean references and drama). Under his pseudonym, Dr. Wright Engel, he has produced two volumes of PERPENDICTION PUZZLES, in which each answer intersects itself at 90 degrees.

All of Chet Meyer's professional writing is available in digital form at the Amazon.com Kindle store and through the Vellum Publishing, Inc. sites, www.vellumpublishing.com and www.newkindlebooks.com.
