Mellow piano and sharp orchestral type pieces - fantastic,

I love this CD. The piano tracks are excellent setting a wonderful mood. I especially love 'Goodbye Baby Susie', 'Doug and Carol' and 'The Hero'. Which are all the better if you are famillar with ER and the storylines the tunes relate to. The tracks with vocals have wonderful lyrics and the version of 'It came upon a midnight clear' is the best I've heard.

OK...I have to lay my predjudicial cards out on the table. I'm not really an ER fan. Part of me still can't fathom why so many people set aside 10 P.M. on Thursday nights to watch a show filled with so many soap opera-style love stories, blood & guts scenes, and so many things that you don't expect to happen in a real ER, such as a post-football game brawl, since September 19, 1994. And yet my girlfriend can't get through a single Friday afternoon phone conversation without telling me what happened on the show last night. I know who everyone on the show is without my ever intending to.With that said, the reason I bought this CD is because I like the theme a lot. It's one of those themes that stick in your head after you hear it the first time. Two versions are included: the version we hear on TV every week, and a longer version that sounds like it was intended for the final credits, if we ever actually got to see the final credits roll. The songs by Marc Cohn and Duncan Sheik are terrific. The rest of the Martin Davitch score is fairly typical "ER" music: some fast-paced emergency operation scenes here, a few patient death scenes there, and love scenes way over there. I believe this is one of those CD's where the music has much more meaning if you're familiar with the episodes in which it appears, much like the "Miami Vice" soundtracks from the 1980's. But even if you're like me and don't make a habit of watching the show, you can still enjoy the score as a piece of the TV/film music genre: the Davitch pieces sound perfect for any kind of action/adventure movie.

Love it!,

I bought this CD right after the final Kellie Martin episode because I had stopped watching ER until then since Season 5. I bought this cd to reminisce about the first few seasons, when Dr. Greene was so inexperienced and young and frightened, and when Susan Lewis was still there, and when Carter was just an intern. I love this cd so much because I can picture the episodes with the songs. My favorite would the the "See you next fall" Carter song, and also the Dr. Greene one from "Love's Labor Lost". This is a terrific cd, and I recommend it to all ER fans alike.

I love this CD because ER is my favorite show. I think most of the songs are absolutely wonderful and add tremendously to viewing experience. Among my favorites are definitely "The Hero", "healing Hands", and "Reasons for Living." This CD is a wonderful ride back through memory lane of ER in its infant years.

Being a huge fan of the show for many years now, I had to buy this cd. It is excellent. It contains music from the first two seasons of the show, including the theme song, which I think is the best tv theme ever. James Newton Howard's theme captured entirely the mood of the show. And Martin Davitch, who now does the music for each episode, has done a splended job of matching incredible music with the many classic and powerful moments of one of the greatest shows in tv history. The music is cinematic! Now if only Martin Davitch and Warner Brothers would get they're act together and release another soundtrack that would cover some of the amazing music that has been used in the show after this soundtrack came out. I would buy that too. Overall, except for the three tracks with vocals (yes, it ruins the mood), this is a perfect tv soundtrack.

music as good as the show,

I have this on cassette and it still sounds amazing,so I can only imagine it must be even better on cd. It's mostly instrumental music, very exhilirating. Besides the original theme music, there's also an extended version which is even better. Whether you watch the show or not (when I first bought it, I wasn't even a fan of the show, I just liked the theme score), this is great music.
