ER The Unofficial Guide,

Excellent book. Covers seasons 1-8. Gives an overview of the main stories in each episode and also the threads. I like how at the beginning of each season's episode synopsis it lists a "Theme" for the season and flags particular episodes as "One to Watch". Includes information about the main cast and supportive cast, even if they were only on a few episodes. A great ER book for any fan. I would recommend this to all ER fans. Just a lot of good ER info. Exceptional Book!!,

I am a die-hard ER fan and was very satisfied when i read this book. The first part of the book deals with the main characters in the present, then the main former characters, and lastly the supporting cast, with trivia at the end of each major character. The second part deals with episode reviews and season overviews. It notes the main events of each season with "one to watch" episodes picked out. Each episode is explained in detail, and the "one to watch" episodes have an extra paragraph explaining the aspects that make it a "one to watch." The book also has awesome photos of cast past and present This book is exceptional! I've read the reviews several times over and have learned a lot that i didn't already know. It is full of ACCURATE information(for those of you who wrote reviews before me), and very accountable facts noted in the episodes. I would reccomend this book to any die-hard ER fan like me!!

I was really disappointed in this book. I suppose the short page count should have tipped me off -- there is just no way to cover 8 seasons in any detail in around 200 pages. The book is in two sections. The first part provides biographies of most of the program's characters, using information gleaned from the episodes themselves, plus, in some cases, a bit of extrapolation on the part of the author. The author covers both main cast and many of the minor characters. Be aware, however, that 'minor characters' only includes hospital staff and paramedics. So while many characters who passed through only briefly (Dr. Babcock, Henry, Amanda Lee) get thorough write-ups, important family members (Chloe, Jackie, Rachel, Jenn) are ignored totally. The second part of the book provides fairly brief summaries of every episode of the first 8 seasons. And here's where the book's biggest problems lie. The summaries ARE brief (averaging about a page each). The writing style is stilted and awkward, with lots of short sentences and sentence fragments. With the exception of a few top episodes (specially labeled as 'ones to watch'), no attempt is made to review or discuss, and even in this latter group, discussion is minimal at best. (A few sentences explaining why the episode was selected for special mention.) To add to the problems, factual errors abound. If this book were the only source for this kind of information, it might be worth the purchase. But there are several excellent websites that provide, for free, detailed, WELL WRITTEN, engaging summaries and reviews of all the episodes. So really, I wouldn't bother buying this book.
