Keeps Baby Secure/Stroller Replacement,

This review is from: ERGO Heart2Heart Infant Insert - Galaxy (Baby Product)
My husband and I are grad students, so we don't have a lot of money, so we were looking for a way to put off buying a pricey stroller for as long as possible and the ErgoBaby Carrier seemed like a great compromise. And the infant insert worked perfectly for our newborn. When our son was only three days old, we took him on his first walk through the neighborhood using the ErgoBaby Sport with this Infant Insert. There was still snow on the ground and it was cold outside, but this helped keep him warm and stabilized.

ERGO Baby Infant Insert - Makes Your Baby Sweat!,

Works great with the Ergo Baby, but my baby gets way too sweaty in the insert. Will have to wait to use the Ergo Baby when my baby outgrows the insert. Unfortunately, I had to spend more money and get a breathable Baby Bjorn instead. So if you know your baby gets warm easily, I would not recommend this product.

Didn't find it necessary,

The ergo recommends using this insert until your child is 15 lbs, but the few times I tried to use it, I couldn't figure out how to situate everything to make my little comfortable. Born at 8 lbs, I started wearing her in the Ergo at around 2 or 3 weeks, she would just cuddle to my chest and go to sleep. I check her airway frequently and she's never had any issues in it. Now 4 months and 11.5 lbs she prefers to be tucked down into it, rather than sitting in the insert. So if you already have the ergo and you carry your little one just fine in it already, I wouldn't suggest you buy this.

Works great - as long as the weather isn't too hot,

I have been using the infant insert for about 2 months with my newborn daughter. She rejected the Baby Bjorn (and still does), because she prefers to have her legs up and together. The only problem is that when the weather is hot, she gets extremely sweaty and uncomfortable. Not sure how they could make it more breathable, but when the weather gets colder I don't anticipate any issues with it. I would not recommend this product for someone living in a hot climate all year long.

Didn't think I needed one....,

I didn't think I needed one of these, but I ended up buying one. My daughter is only 7 pounds, and I tried it without, and it didn't work at all. The insert works great. I like the head support the best. It's really comfy and doesn't jostle her around.

A must have to go with the ERGO carrier. My newborn is only 6 lbs and fits perfectly in this insert! Comfortable, breathable, an overall great buy, worth the extra money.

My son was born premature and weighted only 5lbs 14oz. I wanted a way to carry him around the house and still have my hands free so I tidy the living room, pour a glass of OJ, etc. He was WAY too tiny for the simple front carrier I had been planning on using and way WAY too small for the fabric sling I had bought. This insert was a Godsend. It fit perfectly in my simple 'front carry' baby carrier even though the instructions say not to use it with any carrier other than the ERGO. I was so thankful to have a way to carry my tiny, tiny bundle of joy close to my chest, safe and sound, but still be able to get things done!! In terms of neck support, I found that I could easily adjust the baby's position so that his head was tilted to one side or the other, resting on top of the cushiony portion of the insert. The top part acted like a pillow that delicately propped his head up, although I did have to be mindful of his head position at all times. I'm not sure what the fabric care instructions said, but I threw it into the washer and dryer with the rest of the baby's clothes and it came out just fine.

So far I like this product. My little girl is 7 weeks old and she fits perfect in this (not sure her height and weight, dr appointment next week, but she was 7lb4oz and 20 inches 4 weeks ago). I could see how this could get hot in the summer months though, but for the cooler months it is nice and snuggly. My only problem with this product,is sometimes I feel like my baby's feet are getting squished. The neck support is great, but if she falls asleep sometimes her head will come crashing into my chest- maybe I am just not putting the ergo carrier on right, will need to experiment more I guess.

Good thing I had a winter baby, otherwise we both would have been sweating in this thing! Don't get me wrong, it works well- does what it is supposed to do, but just be aware that it's very warm.

Good newborn option for the ERGO carrier - but hard to use,

After extensive research, we selected the Ergo Baby as our carrier for our little one. I liked the fact that this insert would allow us to use the carrier as a newborn, thereby allowing us to not have to purchase two separate carriers. We did use the insert and it does work so I can't complain. For us, it was not easy to get in place, get our child in, etc. When in use, it was fine - but I felt like our daughter would sweat b/c it's a thick, padded insert (I don't recommend this for anyone who wants to use in the summer or in warmer climates). I can't imagine how someone could use this and put on the carrier by themselves (without someone to help them) but I'm sure people figure it out! For us, I wish we purchased another brand to use when our daughter was born. Because of the issues I stated above, we have been somewhat turned off by it and haven't used it as much as we should/ would like to. Now that she's older, I hope we'll get more use out of the carrier portion.
