Finally, the Holy Grail of baby carriers,

Let me start by saying it took until baby two to finally buy this carrier even though we had been storing it in our amazon wish list since baby one was about 6 months old. We have one sling, one wrap, two carriers (including a hiking one and a front or back facing one) and have always been a bit underwhelmed with the carriers until this one! The other carriers thus far have been a little uncomfortable for wearer and baby, as well as complicated to put on/take off. We just got this last night and I put my 2 year old (30 lbs) in it like a back pack. She and I both loved it and let me say this is a fussy Dad and a fussy 2 year old so I assure you one of us would have had a problem with it pretty quickly if there was one to have. So far no regrets and I only wish we would have saved our money and bought this a year or two ago.
We bought it for our 6 month old and will test it out with her today so hopefully this isn't jumping the gun, however judging from how it felt with a 30 pounder on my back I'm assuming it will be pure ecstasy with a 14 lb baby. Save yourself the time and money and just buy this one now. Tim

I love our organic Ergo and can't wait to use it for our newborn when she's a bit bigger. I found the Heart to Heart insert to be a bit unwieldy and honestly, I always worry about baby becoming overheated while in the insert and carrier. We used this wonderfully for her first two weeks, but now (at 10 weeks) she and I become so uncomfortably hot that I had to resort to Craigslist to get a Baby Bjorn Air. I know that the insert is to be used until she's just 4 months, but with a newborn, that's like a lifetime, so I'd say go with a Bjorn to start and then the Ergo if you can afford it. Baby is much happier, and mom is a lot cooler, literally. I know the longevity of the Ergo outweighs the Bjorn, but in the short term, I wouldn't recommend it for a newborn.

A bit overrated,

I did lots of research on carriers before purchasing the ergo, and now that I have it, I am a bit disappointed. First off, I used it with the infant insert. I received NO directions on how to use the infant insert. The directions that came with the carrier do not even mention the insert. So I am confused about what the lone strap hanging off of it is for. I also am not sure if I even had my baby in correctly. But my biggest complaint is that this carrier is bulky and hot, especially with the insert. I went for a 10 min walk outside in the summer time in chicago with my newborn with the insert and we were both sweaty and uncomfortable. I was actually extremely concerned that my baby was becoming overheated. The material of the insert and of the carrier is a thick cotton and not breathable at all. The carrier is also unattractive in general . . . . I am now considering purchasing a baby bjorn air or baby bjorn synergy, which are a more breathable comfortable fabric, and more attractive.

The baby bjorn I had, even with "lumbar support", killed my shoulders after my baby was about 12 lbs. I bought an ergo but he did not fit in it at the supposedly-ready 5 month mark -- his little legs were splayed too far apart. But now he's taller at 6 months and he fits great and I LOVE my Ergo!! Great carrier, very comfortable. I also owned a babyhawk for about 3 days and while I adored the cute pattern on that, I didn't feel it was as safe with the buckles (Ergo tests the buckles to high standards, they just feel more "solid", and also the Ergo has reinforcement elastic bands just in case a buckle does ever fail it should "catch" on the elastic.)

This is the first time I have ever written a review. I felt the need to tell other moms out there that this is the best $120.00 I have spent since having my baby!!! I bought the Ergo Baby when my little guy was 5 months old. He is 9.5 months now and still loves it. My only regret is not purchasing it sooner. He LOVES it!! I don't know how moms can live with out it. I also had the Baby Bijorn and I can say, this is SOOOO much more comfortable for mommy and baby. My husband also loves it and goes on long walks with baby on his back. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it is a little difficult to put baby on your back without help... But, it can be done. Just make sure to do it over a couch! Hope you enjoy yours as much as we love ours!

Best carrier around! Especially for women!,
This review is from: ERGO Organic Baby Carrier - Navy / Midnight (Baby Product)
I have the Baby Bjorn, the Moby wrap, a Seven Sling, AND the Ergo carrier. Although they are all great, the Moby is THE BEST by far! It is easy to take on and off alone, goes on quickly, has storage, has fun colors, and best of all... it is SO COMFORTABLE!!! For LONG periods of time!!The Baby Bjorn is simple and my husband likes it best because it looks more simple, but you have to put it on over your head and seems constricting to me. Also, it has zero back support so it really hurt my back after wearing it for hours at a kids birthday party. I had to keep sitting down. Imagine wearing a 15 pound backpack backwards. The Moby Wrap is fantastic once they are in it. Very cozy, secure, and comfy for baby. However, it is about 30 feet of fabric and once your baby starts wailing its pretty hard to do all the wrapping and adjusting. Great to wear around the house when your baby is itty bitty. The Seven Sling is very VERY simple-its just one loop you slip over your head- but its just not made for wearing it for more than a short (SHORT) time. I've worn it at dinner so I could actually eat, but then I retired it. Its too flimsy and baby is not secure in it at all. Also I am 5'7" and <130 lbs and it seems too small for me- as if my shoulders are too broad. It seems like it is way too tight and it is the Large. My friend gave it to me because of this same reason, so I am not sure who it would actually fit well! The Ergo has a pocket in the front where I tuck in a diaper and a few wipes in the front, a little hood if I want to cover him (feeding or weather), a pouch that you can get for extra storage, and GREAT back support. It is also great to wear at the airport if you are traveling with baby a lot. If you have a newborn you have to buy the Infant Heart-to-Heart insert pad. (not the one with the big padding at the bottom though- that is not necessary). That heart-to-heart doubles for us as a warm cover/ blanket once we get to our destination and as a pad if I need to change him on the ground. Overall: FANTASTIC! LOVE IT!

Very nice product...,

I recommend this baby carrier to any parent for their child. This happens to be the third baby carrier my husband and I have purchased at this time (and my son's only 5 months old)! What I like about this product is how "comfortable" it is for both me and my son. He has fallen asleep in it, numerous times and this has allowed me the mobility to do a few of the "extra" things around the house that I would not have been able to do in the past. I also prefer choosing the carrier to the "bulky" infant seat, when maneuvering with my child around the grocery store and other public places. It's also lot easier to transition him from the carrier to his bed, without "disturbing" him too much.

color warning,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The ergo carrier itself is amazing. Some people have given ergo poor reviews due to the fact that you cannot carrier a baby in the forward facing position. Ergo does not work in this position because it is very bad for the spinal development of an infant to be carried this way. Do some research on the proper positions for spinal health and you will not want to carry your child in this manner. The reason I am giving this a poor review is because the lining and hood color is misrepresented. It appears ivory or cream color on most websites including this one but the actually color is very peachy pink. Be warned, if you are looking for a gender neutral carrier this is not it.

Awesome once baby is big enough to use without insert, which sucks.,

The Ergo is hands down the easiest carrier to use. Love it, love it, love it. On those days when I can't get my son to nap this makes a world of difference. He will always fall asleep in this and then I just do my chores while wearing it. Before he was big enough to sit upright in a shopping cart this made shopping trips SO much easier. One thing I will say is I used the Moby wrap while he was really little because the Heart to Heart Infant Insert for the Ergo was incredibly frustrating to use and was not as comfortable to use as the Moby in terms of knowing the baby was snug/safe. But the Moby requires more time to get on so since he got big enough it's been pretty consistently Ergo, expect occasions when I need/want to have him facing outward. It's easy to use, more comfortable than other carriers, and allows use of both your hands in the stages when your baby needs you to be holding them often. No complaints.

So comfy on my shoulders,
This review is from: ERGO Organic Baby Carrier - Navy / Midnight (Baby Product)
I really love my ergo carrier. Its great for bigger, older babies, I'd say 4 months and up. Its very comfortable on the shoulders. I've tried other carriers and my shoulder would get so painful after awhile. I can carry my baby in the Ergo for hours and not feel sore. We love to go outdoors and I have carried him on 4 mile hikes without a problem.
