Just ordered two of these - pink and purple - for my girls. As of this review you will find pink cheaper from cloth diaper natural mom type sites. Just fyi. Purple is sold out almost everywhere with restocking being dicey before January. If you find it odds are it will be priced high but if you want it that's what you're gonna have to pay if you want it for Christmas.

I was a little nervous reading reviews that some have the chest strap and some do not - the purple seems to be a new color so I am assuming all purples have the chest strap, but I think pink is being discontinued which makes it something of a wild card. Are they all old stock? Are they still being made? I don't know. Our pink came today and it has a chest strap! Still waiting on the purple, as well as Christmas to come to actually give these to the girls. It seems to be well made and it's very cute. How much use your child gets out of it will of course depend on how much your child likes it, which no one can really predict. My girls are 3 1/2 and really getting into caring for their dolls lately, plus they have a little brother who I carry in a real-baby Ergo, so I am thinking they will enjoy these a lot. Everyone's mileage will vary but it is well made and newer versions DO have a chest clip.

Updating to say purple has arrived and it has a chest strap as well. Now I just hope my girls like them and I don't find them trying to carry their brother around! :-D

I had thought about getting these last year but I think they were too little then, and I am glad I waited because I like the new color. One girl likes purple and the other likes pink so it works out perfectly for me.

Ordered this doll carrier for my daughter, who is a lover of baby dolls. It has a nice feel to it and is very secure; doll will not fall out easily. Lots of room to grow with your child (daughter is a size 5 now and the carrier has a lot of room to grow both around the waist and in the chest strap). The doll is very secure and leaves daughters hands free for other play. (The best part is this means she can hold our hands in parking lots, or out shopping without having to let loose the baby doll, or possibly loosing it left behind in a shopping cart.)

This would be perfect for a big sister, or the grey star one would be great for a big brother. As a baby we wore our daughter often in various carriers; The Ergo was a good quality and sturdy both as a doll carrier and an actual baby carrier. Great product, imaginative open ended play, makes old toys new again by expanding their uses. Fits both soft bodies baby dolls between 12-20 inches as well as 18 inch tall dolls like American Girl, Battat or Madame Alexander Madame Alexander, 18" Playfully Pretty, Favorite Friends Collection. Although the 18 inch dolls fit fine (see the picture on this web site) the doll appears a little more uncomfortable than the fatter dolls with shorter legs;this in no way impairs the ability to carry an 18 inch doll, I just personally think if the doll were real she would be uncomfortable.

or an American Girl Bitty Baby or Twin fit best. However, My daughter seems equally happy and comfortable to carry both styles of doll.

Carrier would probably not work well for fully hard dolls like Baby Alive My Baby Alive - Blonde or Childcraft Lots to Love Babies - Asian Doll - 10 Inches as their bodies are not flexible at all, and the child would likely get poked by doll body parts.

A larger/taller soft bodied doll may fit as well but we have none to test. A larger doll may require some parent help to load doll. A fatter doll would require assistance to thread their legs through the leg holes and such. On a side note, there is a pocket like section sewn inside the carrier where the doll is inserted, you could use the carrier without threading the doll through this section, it just makes the doll more secure. That being said,simply loading the dolls without using this section would allow for larger dolls to be carried with more ease.

As for general ease of use, the carrier is easy to use and if your child can snap on or off either their life jacket or their car seat they can likely use this independently. My daughter needs help to put it on initially at the beginning of the day to click the back buckle around her waist (She does a front carry), but plays the rest of the day on her own, even changing out dolls mostly on her own.

I got this for my 22 months daughter. She still has times on my Ergo, but mostly it is reserved for my 5 months old. She loves dolls and copies everything I do. She loved her own Ergo! I was reading the reviews and was ready to use the strap from the box to keep it in place; but this was not needed as her Ergo came with a back buckle! just like mine! It stays in place and she is happily taking her doll for walks as her mommy takes her baby brother! We love it

I gave this to my daughter for her 3 year old birthday, and she loves it. I agree with the other reviewer that it's a bit large--my daughter is tall, though, and it fits her fine with clearly plenty of room to grow into the adjustable straps. She can't put it on by herself, so I have to help her with that, but she can get her Corolle doll in and out by herself, which has been more important. It does help that the doll has a soft body. The back strap (chest strap? whatever it is) is definitely necessary. The straps have never slipped on her.

The purple is a vibrant, fun color.

Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and glad I got this instead of the Corolle brand one.

I ordered two grey carriers for the children in my childcare program. We have a new baby who is very high need and spends a good amount of time in my Ergo. When I opened the box 2 year old Jackson was very excited and grabbed his favorite baby doll to put in the carrier. He carried his baby around for quite a while before he decided it needed to go in the swing and he needed a snack. I can't wait for the 1.5 year old sister of the baby to see this new toy. I know she will also be thrilled. I think I might need to order more because I am sure this is a toy that will get a LOT of use.

I am very happy with the quality of this carrier and the thought that went into creating it. There is a little pocket inside that helps keep the dolly in place. I was pleased to see that a chest clip was included on both carriers. (This was a common complaint in the reviews I read.) It looks like it will fit a wide age range and the play value makes it worth every cent. This is one toy that will last a long time and get a lot of use.
