2.0 out of 5 stars Read with caution
The chapter endings and the end of the book were useful. The statement that Lyme disease is caused by a virus is outrageous...how does something like that get past an editor? I gave the book as a gift to a friend recently diagnosed with ALS and then was really embarrassed by this section. I just wrote her a note at that section...but it casts doubt on the other things...

I recommend the book for anyone with ALS, preferably as soon as possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time to Take Responsibility for Our Health, August 15, 2009
This review is from: ERIC IS WINNING !!: Beating a Terminal Illness with Nutrition, Avoiding Toxins and Common Sense (Paperback)
I read Eric's book in 2005 and I'm glad I did. Nobody in the medical field is giving people with ALS any hope, but Eric truly is winning, actually getting better and not worse. I'm doing what he recommends in the book, and my health is still good 4 1/2 years later. 4 years into a 5 year death sentence and I'm still walking and dancing. I think Eric Edney is right about the cause of ALS: Toxins, malnutrition, and stress.
Get the metal out of your mouth.
Detoxify by chelation and other methods.
Eat only whole, nontoxic food.
Remove toxins from your environment.
Take neuroprotective supplements as needed.
De-stress and keep a positive mental attitude.

Eric, you rock!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope for the "Medical Incurables", November 5, 2006

This review is from: ERIC IS WINNING !!: Beating a Terminal Illness with Nutrition, Avoiding Toxins and Common Sense (Paperback)
Eric Edney is an inspiration for the many thousands afflicted with ALS. Eric's determination to conquer a disease that the medical establishment walks away from is a document of the power of the human body and mind to heal itself without the use of harmful medications, which often merely suppress symptoms. I first learned of "Eric is Winning" from one of my ALS patients and I now have recommended his book to any patient who has an "incurable disease." A true practitioner doesn't give up on their patients, but helps guide them towards reasonable solutions, which may restore or preserve function and certainly provide a sense of hope. I applaud Eric for his courage and fortitude to combat an illness that his medical doctors walked away from and condemned him to death. Dr. Glenn Gero, Holistic Naturopathic Center

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, February 23, 2007
This review is from: ERIC IS WINNING !!: Beating a Terminal Illness with Nutrition, Avoiding Toxins and Common Sense (Paperback)
This book is wonderful. He discusses his regimen in detail. He has done a great amount of research and it seems to be working for him. He also discusses how we need to be involved in our health and medical decisions and not rely only on what the doctors say. He is very accurate that doctors want to treat the symptom not the problem. Due to his extensive reasearch and PMA (positive mental attitude) he has been able to reverse his ALS. His recommendations take disipline and structure to maintain a successful outcome to any disease. I strongly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eric is Amazing, September 4, 2007
This review is from: ERIC IS WINNING !!: Beating a Terminal Illness with Nutrition, Avoiding Toxins and Common Sense (Paperback)
Eric is amazing. My DH was just dx with ALS. We have both read his book from cover to cover. He brings up many good points. Since we are just starting down this path, I can't say for sure what items will help us. However, we did adopt a mostly raw vegan diet. We are already seeing many improvements from that. We have also started on a supplement list very similar to Erics. DH is also set up to get his amalgams out and replaced. Eric is not the only PALS to recommend that as a help. In our book it can't hurt. We expect to beat this just as Eric has done.

This was an amazing read. Recently diagnost with ALS myself and have found this book to be a wealth of information. Basically have been told by my neurologist to go home and expect to die in 5 years. This book has given me the hope I needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very help guide, September 10, 2007

This review is from: ERIC IS WINNING !!: Beating a Terminal Illness with Nutrition, Avoiding Toxins and Common Sense (Paperback)
From the point of view of being diagnosed with only a poor prognosis to expect, and no help from conventional medicine, this book is so helpful for someone who wants to live, and how to learn new ways, like alternative approaches, and dealing with new concepts, and learning how to explore new helps and hindrances to progress, like other peoples' expectations of impending demise to toxins to food quality, etc. A wonderful journey, and helpful in many ways to others facing serious illness. I'm so glad he wrote it. I loved learning with him, and look, he's way past the five year life expectancy limit!
