5.0 out of 5 stars Great little fixed blade! April 1, 2013

I've had it for a month now, can't find anything bad to say about it. Steel seems strong enough and i'm confident you could use it as a small pry-bar in a jam. The olive finish has held up well so far. The cheap black velcro sheath is functional, but i'm currently making a leather sheath. Thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars Small, Yet Full of Utility March 6, 2014
The ESEE Candiru Knife is a stout although very small knife. The quality is very good but not without a flaw. If you are looking for a small yet capable knife the Candiru is worth considering. Despite only having a 2 inch blade this knife performs very well and is a worthwhile back-up knife.

Pros:

+ Very sharp
+ Coating is excellent
+ Relatively thick blade for a small knife
+ Lifetime warranty through ESEE
+ Decent nylon sheath

Cons:

- Poor jimping
- Handle should be about ½ inch longer
- Very expensive

Overall Assessment:

The ESEE Candiru Knife is almost a perfectly crafted knife. Two modifications would make this knife perfect. First, the jimping is ineffective for providing a thumb grip. It needs to have deeper groves that provide more grip. Second, extend the handle about a ½ longer would really help when gripping the handle. If you have large hands this knife may be difficult to grip. With small to average size hands you will do okay but added length will help. I recommend getting the ESEE Knives CAN-HDL-CNV Green Canvas Micarta Candiru Handles. Despite these two issues the Candiru is an excellent knife. The nylon sheath is decent quality and considering the size of the knife it works very well. The knife comes very sharp and while small it is still full of utility. This knife makes an excellent back-up knife, neck knife, or EDC knife to throw in your bag. The cost is expensive but the quality is very high.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Permantently attached to the backpack'....... May 9, 2013

ESEE knives are simply spot on in weight/efficiency. I added orange scales to help prevent loss
when you set the knife down on a log or in the leaves. As an ultralightweight backpacker this is about
the heaviest knife I'm willing to carry but I feel with adaquate skills and a firesteel you are sure of fire....throw
in some paracord and many bases are covered.

Better than the izula in size usability and look but does need a smaller sheath maybe a kydex project but still just an awsome knife.

5.0 out of 5 stars JUST BUY IT! November 6, 2013
By P
I'm an avid knife collector. I happen to love Esee knives. I was looking for a small EDC that I could carry in my pocket, in a Kydex sheath. Don't be fooled by its size. This Candiru is a little workhorse. One of the sharpest most substantial knives that have arrived to my home. Absolutely outstanding. Not one single complaint.

NOTE: Must buy the Candiru Canvas Micarta Handle and a Kydex sheath.
