5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and portable arcade-like exprience
I've been looking for something like this for a long time now. I was originally leaning towards a cabinet-type hoop wherein you could easily store everything inside a cabinet where everything is built. However, those are expensive, the cheapest one is double the price of this thing and the reviews for it weren't good. This is why I chose this among others. The price is ok...

2.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced
This product is way overpriced. They make it look bigger than it actually is. It's a very small hoop and a very small ball. It wouldn't be so bad if it were half the price. They must have hung it on a small door, or maybe what they did was show only half the door in the picture, so it would look bigger.

The price is ok and the mecahnism can be re-used. I noticed from the picture that the lcd scorer could easily be hooked up to another basketball hoop in case this wears out or gets broken.

When I opened the box, I immediately noticed the blue lever in the center of the hoop that registers the score for every shot made (see attached picture). This was not evident in the original picture of the product. I inititially thought that there is some sort of light sensor that would register every shot made. But I realized that that would definitely cost more and a plastic lever is more econimical. Everything seems to be well made, solidly built, smooth edges for a product made of plastic (no molded left overs that the machine failed to cut or smoothen out). Installation is fairly easy, the return rack is already built with an elastic holding everything together. What's nice about this idea is that you can easily collapse the whole rack to the size of the board for easy storage. Notice also in the original picture at the mid part of the board, there are black tape-like material on both sides; this is a velcro tape that you'd use to fasten everything when you fold up the rack so that everything holds in place. The whole system hooks over a door as shown in the picture. In my case, I'm hooking it over a curtain rod. There are 2 screws that come with the package as well so there is also an option to mount the whole thing to a wall.

Now on to the game. Scorer/timer uses 2 AA batteries. There is an on/off switch and 2 buttons for the time and to start a game. The timer can be set from 30 to 190 seconds (10-second incerements). Upon pressing the start button, a sound will come off indicating the start of the game. For every shot made, another sound is made (cheering crowd and a boing sound). Each shot is worth 2 points but when the time reaches 15 seconds and below, each shot is worth 3 points and a beep goes with the time to warn the shooter. The whole system was solid when I was playing and making my shots. Ball returned instantly via the net and rack whether you make the shot or not.

I wished that they threw in a couple of extra balls as the package only have 1 ball included. While playing, 2 balls are enough to get everything going. More than 2 might not be registered by the lever as there might be an instance when the shooter is shooting too fast and 2 balls go in at the same time. Antoher thing I had to do is remove the white net in the ring as the ball gets stuck between the net and blue lever.

For the price and enjoyment, this is highly recommended. Educational for kids (hand eye coordination) and lots of fun for adults.

I could tell from the picture along this was not going to be a very well crafted game, and was actually surprised to read that it had a timer/kept score. However when it went on sale on Amazons lightening deal, I figured I'd give it a shot.

-First thing you should know is this hoop is very small.
-Second thing I didn't like about it was that the netting does not fit around the bar as well as it does in the picture. It is in fact very tight, leaving no room to catch the ball.
-Another note on the net (since it is so tight), it makes the entire frame jut straight out, not on a downward angle as the picture would have you fooled.

As I suspected, the entire toy is very flimsy, and not made well. This makes it hard to make baskets, as rim will wave on impact from the ball. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Even at $20, I still feel ripped off.

If you want a hanging hoop but want to be economical about it, I would recommend one like this. [...]

Hope I could help.

This hoop set is simple, durable and lots of fun. It's not quite ESPN shot block hoops, but hey; it's a third the price or less. My kid LOVES it. There's not much more you can ask for at this price.

The basketball hoop has scratched the paint off of the door and does not fold up easily at all. The boys have already broken it several times just by playing hoops.
