Product Description

With every Olympic games, there comes a host of video games to boot. ESPN International Track & Field from Kanomi is one of them for the Sydney Olympic games. Now that those games are over, it's your turn to try your luck at winning those gold medals.

Based on the already popular International Track & Field series, this version sees the usual array of events and the addition of some new ones. Test your skill at the ever-impossible 100-Meter Dash (this is the same for every track and field game) or the more unusual Pole Vault or Horizontal Bar event.

The game can be very competitive at times, and you have to perform to your best ability in an attempt to get placed. Every event has a different technique to it and, once mastered, makes the game a lot more enjoyable, however frustrating it might have been at the beginning.

ESPN International Track & Field is on par with Sydney 2000 by Eidos and Virtua Athlete, each of which offers you an array of different events. If you really are a fan of the Olympics, perhaps the safest bet is to check out all three--that way, you would have most of the Olympic events covered. --Stuart Miles

4.0 out of 5 stars well, at least field, November 19, 2000
This review is from: ESPN International Track and Field (Video Game)
crisp graphics and smooth gameplay make for a good and fun game without all the blood and violence we are so used to. this game definitely blows the lid off of Virtua Athlete 2K, and i havent played Sydney 2000 so I cant pass judgement on that one yet. a couple of the events are dynamite, but then you have the 100m sprint and 110m hurdles which are near impossible to even come in 6th without the use of a cheater controller.

in turn, this also makes it extremely difficult to unlock the hidden events, because of requirements needed in other events. I would reccomend this game to any fan of the original Track and Field title for Nintendo (great wasnt it) and any sports/olympic fan.

Events you find in this include: 100m dash, 110m hurdles, weightlifting, javelin, hammer throw, long jump, pole vault, horizontal bar, 100m freestyle, triple jump, vault, and trap shooting

4.0 out of 5 stars a bronze medal, October 5, 2000

good graphics and player movements. some events like 100 meter dash,long jump and weight lifting are impossible to rank in. cool replays and a nice espn presentation. this game is very fun but many flaws make it a little short of the gold

4.0 out of 5 stars ESPN International Track & Field, January 2, 2001

This review is from: ESPN International Track and Field (Video Game)
The game is pretty easy. 100m ==> 9.78 Sec, weightlifting ==> 265 kg, javelin ==> 108.21 m, hammer throw ==> 99.03 m, 110m hurdles ==> 12.54 sec, long jump ==> 9.18 m, pole vault ==> 6.25 m, horizontal bar ==> 9.93, triple jump ==> 17.86 m, high jump ==> 6.45 m. Really easy, except for trap shooting. I have fun with this game. BTW, I only use Sega Dreamcast standard controllers.
