This review is from: ESQ by Movado Men's 7301330 Aston Chronograph Stainless-Steel Bracelet Watch (Watch)
I finally managed to loose my Japanese quartz day-to-day toss-the-garbage-and-go-to-the-gym-with-it watch. This cool replacement cost me less than that other watch and looks far better. This is my first daily-use Swiss. Without getting into the whole Japanese vs. Swiss quartz watch rivalry, I have to admit I'm impressed. I've owned one other Swiss watch, a Zenith El Primero, a traditional automatic chronometer that cost in the range of several thousand dollars. I can tell you a few things about this watch:
1. It may not be an automatic, but the chronometer functions have the same Swiss movement feel to them. The positioning of the faces on the watch is optimal, and in my opinion more readable than the El Primero's. It is also superior in that it has a day of week indicator. This is a luxury that many luxury watches do not have. 2. This is a much more practical watch. Being a quartz watch it does not demand any kind of babying. Its all-metal enclosure and clasp can take the heat of daily use. My ostrich leather Zenith is very inferior in this regard. 3. This is a very heavy watch. Even by large-chronometer standards. A titanium case would have been beautiful. The main hour and minute needles suck royally. They are hard to read and does take getting used to. I've seen this watch somewhere else for less, I must honestly tell you after owning it for a few days that it is worth at least as much as the current price. This is an excellent value and worth every penny.
