5.0 out of 5 stars These Go Peds are the most fun on Maui!, December 28, 2008

We bought two of these scooters from Amazon for Christmas and had them shipped to Maui, where they arrived in perfect condition in 3 days, well before we did. Friends here took them boxed to a local bike shop which assembled and charged them for about $100, and the bike guys were raving by the time we picked them up, because we asked them to try them out and let us know what they thought. We are a family of four, two boys 13 and 16, and two adults. The scooters have absolutely no problems, and they are incredibly fun and easy to ride, from the first time out. Their chunky tires and awesome suspension makes it smooth and stress free even for me the mom, they are narrow enough to take on sidewalks without getting dirty looks from pedestrians, they also ride easily and smoothly on grass if you need to pass a people-cluster on a sidewalk or take a shortcut, they have plenty of power to go up the steepest hills (only once I have had to switch from Economy to Turbo setting to get it up the steepest with my 140 pounds, but that allowed it to SAIL up), and after two hours of tooling around, we find we are still on the green light that means fully charged. I have no idea how long we would have to go for it to run out of battery, but it is clear that it can go farther than we can. We do not have any of the chain noises we read about in the other reviews, so I think that is a function of getting a bike shop to make proper adjustments. So many people stop us to ask where to buy or rent them that it is ridiculous, but gratifying. We have not found a single drawback to these scooters, which are sturdy, clearly made for adults and so fine for a bigger kid too, not slow but not too fast either, smooth start up with no initial jerk of acceleration like our electric Vespa-like thing had, easy and fun for anyone PLUS a very practical form of transportation to anywhere you could ride a bike to, and of course, NO GAS COSTS or inconvenience. Oh yeah, and Amazon's price and shipping costs far and away beat any other source we found.

5.0 out of 5 stars GoPed ESR Hoverboard electric scooter, December 7, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is my second electric GoPed purchased new. After being thoroughly satisfied with my first, I couldn't turn down a great Amazon deal for a second.

My new Hoverboard arrived only a couple of days after ordering it. It was well packaged and delivered with no damage. Only minor assembly was required which took less than 10 minutes.

Top speed is around 19 mph according to my Garmin eTrex GPS. Except for the whirring of the drive chain, it is very quit. Only curious and maybe some envious looks from the neighbors as I commute through the neighborhood running errands to the post office and grocery store. An inexpensive nylon backpack makes carrying small grocery loads or packages a breeze but obvious there are limitations just like a bicycle. The suspension is very effective and the machine easily glides over sidewalk cracks, uneven pavement, and even as an adult I find myself jumping off curbs and negotiating other obstacles just because its so much fun.

The machine is hefty and I wouldn't want to carry it up any apartment stairs but GoPed does offer a much lighter version with modern lithium polymer batteries though it is significantly more expensive than my new lead acid battery powered Hoverboard.

In a previous review I read about an issue with their throttle sticking because it rubbed the hand grip. The position of the throttle is easy to adjust with a single screw so it could be adjusted with minimal effort and a couple of minutes time. Very simple.

The friends and neighbors I've offered to let try it out alway end their ride with a huge smile and questions about where they can get one and how much. Though the Hoverboard can be a fun recreational novelty, I believe its also a fantastic form of responsible adult transportation for local errands and short commutes. Its a serous well built form of alternative transportation and not the children's toy some envision when you tell them you have a new scooter.

I had been very happy with my original GoPed Hoverboard that I've owned just over a year and now very pleased with the purchased of my second GoPed Hoverboard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Go-Ped ESR750H Hoverboard Electric, September 26, 2008

Pros, no pain at the gas pump..., makes getting around locally super fluid (no having to park a car)

Cons, a bit loud (chain noise) lack of storage/cargo/groceries options (that attach to scooter), chain auto tensioner isn't functioning properly, back-rear brake would be a good idea (to include in a stock scooter) throttle gets stuck sometimes (hazard) (due to encroaching rubber grip)

I suppose the tensioner and grip will be addressed when I have it serviced..

Overall really sturdy efficient transport..

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, November 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this scooter in search of a way to get rid of the car and "drive" myself at work in a more dynamic, efficient way. Only one word, WOW!! I made a huge research in the electric/gas scooters field, to come up that the Go-Ped was the best solution, as Razor is the best for kid's scooters, Go-Ped focuses on the big mans.

It's awesome to see a scooter that works this well, it's incredibly fast, quiet and one button start (electrical), fashion red style, great breaks and if you don't remember how to drive a bike, the learning curve is very small (nearly 3-4 hours to get the balance going and then the learning on how to turn and break) in two days you'll be an expert (you'll need to give some rest to your calves after the initial balance practice).

I was incredulous about the fact that the Go-Ped can get me into the top speed; I am a big man (talking about 6.4 feet tall and 230 pounds weight), the Go-Ped speed up as if I was a child. In an electrical/gas scooter, the way to control de mileage is by setting a top speed. You will get to the top speed fast and then maintain the top speed for X miles that the battery or gas may provide. I thought: OK im a big guy, I'll get to the top speed in about 10 seconds (and then travel X miles), pffffff was I wrong!! I got to the top speed of 20 miles in about 3-4 seconds (and here is the great part, the fastest you get to the top speed depends entirely on the weight, the lighter the faster), the motor is really powerful, you don't want to start from 0 in turbo mode.

I am really psyched about getting the most out of it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for commutes, November 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Go-Ped ESR750H Hoverboard Electric Powered City Scooter (Sports)
I bought my Goped 750H but was worried about how long the battery would last and the speed.
I use it to go from home to work which is 6 miles.
I did those 6 miles in turbo and it's still showing the green light (fully loaded). If you want a faster ride, buy the gas Goped. But if you want an eco-friendly, silent ride, then definitely go for this one. It goes at 20 mph in turbo which is still fast. It's a bit faster than a bike and you don't get tired or even sweat.
It's the heaviest from all Goped models(60 lbs), but the investment is worth it.
Be careful not to ride it when it's raining. You don't want to ruin your toy.

Cons: It doesn't have a key, so anyone can start it at any time, so don't forget a lock.

Other than that, it's awesome

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice scooter! High quality, works great!, May 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am writing this review after riding my new Goped Hoverboard for about 15 miles since I received it about 10 days ago.

Packaging: unit arrived in a very damaged box (12" cut & 5" puncture). UPS dropped it :( Had to bend the lower handlebar attachment fork apart about 2mm. Otherwise no cosmetic damage. Make sure to inspect unit BEFORE UPS delivery person leaves if you see damage!!!

Set up: pretty straight forward: Install front tire & fender, install handlebar to lower mount (need to hammer plastic pin into a hole - the pin was slightly too big and I filed it down a bit - no big deal). Inflate tires to 35 psi, charge it up, lube the chain a bit and off you go.

Ride: switch unit's speed controller to "econo" setting for the first several miles to break in the unit (per instructions) and to get used to it. "Turbo" setting makes this a little rocket - make sure you are comfortable riding it first - it can be a bit twitchy. Otherwise you do hear the motor/chain noise, but nothing out of ordinary. I'm 6'2" and wish the handle bar were an inch or two higher, but no big deal either. Goes over rough pavement well, rides smoothly, comfortable to stand on for long (5 miles) rides. I understand the suspension is adjustable and want to play around with that still.

Fit & Finish - nice welding, very nice paintwork, hardware (nuts/bolts, cables, brake lever, front & rear fender, handlebar tubing) all very high quality and sturdy. This is a high cost item, but compared to inferior Chinese made competition, it's well worth it. The deck you stand on is wood but very solid. The edges are finished by hand (electric router?) and you can tell. Still that adds a bit of character to it.

Mechanics: the front brake works well, not too much bite, but not weak either. The motor doesn't get very hot, despite the sticker's warning "HOT!" - but I ride mostly on Econo, if you ride mostly on Turbo, it may get warmer.

Overall: very happy with the unit. I went on a 4.3 mile ride to my local bank and back and had fun. I use it primarily at work (inter-campus) and get positive comments and several questions & admiring glances.

I would recommend this unit highly and may even buy one of the Li-Ion battery versions in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars ESR 750 Hoverboard, March 6, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Go-Ped ESR750H Hoverboard Electric Powered City Scooter (Sports)
I received my Hoverboard from Amazon quickly. A small amount of assembly was required but it went together effortlessly. For those who have problems figuring out which end of a screwdriver to grab, very helpful video instructions are available on the FAQS page of the Goped website. My initial ride on the H model was a little wobblely when compared to my 750EX. This was due slightly to the higher center of gravity and springyness of the CIDL suspension. I then realised that I had not checked the tire pressures and sure enough they had bled down to about fifteen pounds while in the warehouse. The price of one of these will seem high but when you put a Goped next to an import then the difference is apparent. This is a well built and well designed quality item. The fit and finish is excellant and way beyond what is considered second place.

This is a freedom machine. I just returned from a trip to St George, Utah. I used the hover board for quick trips and errands around the town. In the past while my wife was shopping and doing the things she wanted to do I had the choice of going with her or being left stranded while she shopped.
The hover board gives me the freedom to explore where I wanted to go. This is the perfect solution for those with second homes who don't want to be stranded with only one vehicle.
St George has +35 miles of paved multi-use trails. I talked with a parks employee about the trail system, I was invited to use the trails making sure to give the right of way to pedestrians. What a blast!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another amazing product from Go-Ped!, January 4, 2009
The Go-Ped ESR750H is one of the funnest scooters I have ever been on! It's deck is large enough for two people, though I wouldn't recomend it as the scooter can only hold up to 250 lbs. It's assembly was a snap! This scooter is tough as nails yet its ride is smooth sailing. It is very quiet and the learning curve was about 5 minutes for my sons first ride. After that, new riders took a 30 second class and were on their way. The only bad thing I could say about this scooter is it that wasn't a buy one get one free! :) It's perfect for someone 12yrs and up.... Only because of its weight, 63 lbs. Its "Kick Start" is really easy, one kick and you're a road warrior. Even a 42 year old MOM like me could do it with ease! Amazon.com was the BEST price out there, I should have bought 2 or even 3!

We've been a Go-Ped family since my son bought his first Go-Ped Know-Ped with his Tooth Fairy cash in 2001. We will NEVER ride any other scooter!!! Go-Ped is the best out there. It is truely worth the investment. My 12 year old son is still riding his origional Go-Ped Know-Ped everyday, especially when he shares his Hoverboard with me! He's the envy of all of his friends, and their dads too!Go-Ped ESR750H Hoverboard Electric Powered City Scooter

Shipping from Amazon arrived on time. The shipping box looked undamaged (but old staple holes were present and new staples applied) but the front end of the scooter hung up on the battery pan, so steering was impossible. I called the GoPed company because Amazon stated "unreturnable." They (GoPed) said I had two options, return it to Amazon or pound an indent in the battery pan to allow clearance. It is nearly impossible to contact Amazon, based on my experience and attempts, so I pounded away. I hate the hassle of trying to be made whole via Amazon. The scooter (not pristine as I had expected) is working fine now, but I am totally pessimistic about buying on line again. It seemed certain that I was subject to an attempt to foist off a known defective product. I do not recommend buying this kind of product on-line.
