As one who teaches New Testament translation in an evangelical graduate school, I find the ESV to be superb for both deep study and for personal devotional times. It uses the oldest known manuscript text family as its basis, one that is accepted as the best critical text by all but a few of the most radical, hyper-right scholars. In the English speaking world, it is a great choice for those with both secondary and tercery educations, but who are not fluent in the original Greek and Hebrew languages, being probably the best of the newer translations. In the Spanish world, however, things are different. There is still a wide-spread bias toward the Reina-Valera text. The bias is not due to translation quality as much as it is based on the "older is best" idea that we English speakers see the the ever-dwindling KJV-only folks. Being a pastor of both English and Spanish congregations, I prefer not to fight with emotionally-driven biases, especially those put forth by non-translators, and so I recommend and use the ESV-RV combination. Latino families are bilingual in the United States, and need Bibles that minister to all the family members. Parents and grand-parents still fluent in reading Spanish can read one column (their comfortable RV) while their children and granchildren read the other in contemporary, real-life English. It's also a great tool to use to teach English to Spanish speakers, or vice-versa.

This Bible has a very readable type face and takes great care to keep parallel passages on the exact same horizontal level. Rarely will you find the RVR joined with such a contemporary English translation as the ESV. This is helpful especially for a new Spanish-speaker who does not need a complicated English translation to interfere with his understanding of the parallel Spanish.

The "trademark" ESV footnotes have in this version been relegated to an appendix in the back of the volume, which is not convenient. But I'm very pleased with the clarity and clean appearance of this parallel Bible.

I have been searching for an ESV bilingual Bible for quite some time and so when I found out how easy it would be to purchase, I jumped at the opportunity! Having the Word is essential and it has been great to have it with my Mexican Men's Bible Study. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for bring more and more people to himself through the means of His revelation! How incredible it is that every language can have a translation and that we can be united over not our words, or our languages, but God's Word itself! Thanks Amazon for the very prompt and early delivery!

Santa Biblia: Reina-Valera 2009, 2009 Published by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I can't recommend this parallel Bible at all. I had purchased it so my wife and I could read together considering I use the ESV but we kept running across words that did translate correctly so I did some research and found that the Reina-Valera 2009 was published by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This information should ne noted in the description...

The RVR spanish translation is on the left ( It is not word for word the same as the ESV (which makes it being a parallel a little harder to follow)) and it is more like the king james translation ( an older translation by queen valera).
There are no subtitles or additions into the texts, they are included in the back with subscripts where they correspond to. The ESV has alot of notes in which you have to turn to the back to see what was left out of the translation. IF the ESV chooses not to include a verse, it will be included in the back but unlike with most bibles the verse change won't be footnoted , you'll have to turn all the way to the back to find it. There isn't really any commentary at all.
The pages are very thin and you can't really highlight or write in the book.
Yet overall I'm pleased with the purchase, it was a good deal and worth buying !

Great Bible, i used all the time to do studies, i have to do it in Spanish and English and this Bible make it really easy, great quality

I have an exchange student from Mexico. He is going to a Christian school and was having trouble reading the Bible in just English. Now he understands the word of God better because one column is in English and the column next to it is in Spanish. This is wonderful!!
