Not bad, especially for the price,

I don't need to describe this computer generally--just read the specs. Here are some particulars, though:
- It's not the fastest, due to (i) its notebook processor, (ii) its notebook hard drive, (iii) its notebook video chip, and (iv) the 32-bit Windows 7 version that can use only 3GB of its 4GB of RAM - All that being said, it's fast enough for the average user. I've watched full HD movie files on it and the fan doesn't even spin up. Can't comment on 3D gaming though. - The speakers sound alright, especially once you turn on all of the SRS effects. Also there's no noise when you use headphones, a nice change from my latop. - The mouse is too small for my hand, and my hands are not that large. The wireless keyboard tends to turn off (to save power I assume) and usually I have to hit a key to wake it up again before typing. It has no caps/num/scroll lock lights (they're virtual, on the screen). Also, the keyboard is maybe half the width of the computer, contrary to what you see in the photo. - It doesn't include a normal Windows re-installation DVD; rather it's a recovery image that includes all of the installed BS. - The 22" widescreen is very reflective but otherwise nice. It has an HDMI input and is full 1080 resolution so you could plug your xbox or bluray player in and use it as a monitor. - The 2.5" hard drive makes little whining noises which are always audible since the rest of the machine is so quiet. Annoying. - Overall, despite its flaws, this is a versatile machine especially if you get it for the $690 after mail-in-rebate price.

I was looking for a replacement desktop for sometime and finally decided that what I needed is an all-in-one. It is great to have only one cable, just for power. I was so sick and tired of the total six cables tangled up with the desktop - 2 power cables (1 for CPU and 1 for monitor), ethernet, VGA, keyboard and mouse.
All this made the setup a breeze and not to mention if I ever want to move it to another location, it will be a piece of cake. No problem at all to start Windows 7 and to install several updates. Connecting to my home wireless network was also effortless. It runs very quiet too. I did some research on Sony all-in-one, but can't seem to justify the price tag - double of a regular desktop. I am very happy that I found this Asus model. I paid about $100 more (after the rebate) than I would otherwise with desktop of equivalent configuration. But it is well worth it. The design, I agree, it's not as pretty as the Sony, but much better looking than the HP Touch models. I have not noticed anything negative about this machine. It exceeded my expectation. Highly recommend it.

I've been sitting on a 2002 desktop PC with no internet access (argh!) for quite a few years. I kept telling myself I didn't need to spend all that money for a new one: I've got internet at work and a netbook, I could still do standard, internet-free tasks (yes, there are a few of those, but they aren't much fun), hometime should be a break from work activities, yadda, yadda, yadda. And then one day this summer, I just broke. I wanted a computer that could access the internet in my living room. The problem was that wired access could not be brought into my living room without some ugly wiring, and a laptop's not a great solution for me because my eyesight's bad. Have you searched for wireless desktops? There's not a lot to choose from. After much dilly-dallying (and some intense price-watching), I decided to take the plunge on this ASUS Eee top. I've been on it daily for a few weeks, and I have to say I really love it.
The screen is really big, but not too unwieldy to sit on a desk, and the whole thing is very sleek (although the monitor is really too reflective - I don't need to see my own face at 6:00 a.m.). It's been working beautifully - set-up was quick and easy (good thing, since the only manual is a PDF already loaded on the computer); everything's very simple to use (though there's a ton of "trial" software that I don't want to be fooled into purchasing); the wireless is powerful; and the machine works quickly. I did replace the Microsoft office software with free Open Office software (I find it harder to use than Microsoft, but it's sure a heck of a lot cheaper), and I installed Avast security (love it), but otherwise I'm pretty much chugging along on what Asus sent. Earlier reviewers felt the mouse & keyboard were too small, but I'm having no issues - I actually like the small keyboard a lot, and it never slips, which is nice. If you do a lot of work with numbers, you won't like it, since it doesn't have the numerical keys at the right, but the keys are spaced just the way you're used to them from a larger keyboard, and they depress very nicely (with an audible sound, so you know when you've hit them). Don't be afraid, all you who are not techno-geeks - this is an excellent all around computer.

This model is a rather good system for the price, especially considering it's very small foot-print and the fact that it's entirely self contained.
It's rather stylish for a computer, it also appears rather durable. Performance in general is alright, but it DOES come with a lot of worthless ASUS bloat pre-installed. Sound quality is pretty good, as well as boot times, application load times and such. Image quality (Monitor) is great, and it will default to 1920x1080 resolution. Strangely enough the O/S is 32bit, but the T6600 is a 64bit CPU, the currently installed, default O/S (Win7 32) is incapable of utilizing the systems full hardware capabilities. If you did a clean format and reinstall of a 64 bit O/S performance should be far better under the right conditions, depending on what you use, and how. Overall I'm very satisfied with it, and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a "general entertainment and use" PC with no interest in hardware-heavy 3D gaming.

First, this machine came with Windows 7, the easiest and most intuitive version of Windows I have used. The machine is handsome and very quiet with 6 USB ports and great sound. A little too much bloatware, but that is easily removed. MS Works is a real plus, since MS Office would be overkill for my purposes. But they did include a trial version of MS Office. I found the wireless mouse to be a little hesitant at times and the key board much too small. The space bar did not always enter a space on the first touch. I used the [...] mail-in rebate to buy a wired tracker ball and full sized keyboard. The screen is plenty large and very clear. I did have to find the correct angle to place the computer to avoid reflection of light on the glossy surface. (If you have a light source from behind, beware.)

Quality,

I bought this ASUS desktop on Amazon a year ago. It has been very reliable and a great purchase. Unlike some other PCs I have used in the past, after a year nothing at all has defected, or become less than apparent mint condition in any way. When I bought this PC I was contemplating getting an Apple because so many PCs lack in quality compared to Apple. However, I think this PC is more reliable and seems to be better quality than my Apple, and for a lower price. If you are a graphic designer or want to do intensive programming, you should probably buy something more than this. Otherwise, this PC is great.

I purchased this all in one ASUS PC from Amazon on 11/9/2010 for $769.99 and was just going to buy another one as a gift however the price is now $872.03. Typically the price of a particular computer model goes DOWN with time so I don't understand why Amazon is showing a higher price now.
That said, this is a very nice all-in-one PC that combines both form and function for a reasonable price. I found the design to be much better than competitive all-in-one PCs and the performance is very good. Nice job asus!

After 1.5 years, this Asus has suddenly turned into nothing but trouble. Our family has never had serious problems with any computer (Dell, HP, Mac) we have purchased in the last 25 years. And all of them have lasted at least four to five years before being replaced. This Asus has multiple problems, including AC adapter/power supply, fan, mother board, etc. (this assessment by a computer repair technician). Amazon and Asus cannot do anything for us because the warranty expired at the year mark. We will never buy another Asus. What a pity: we had high hopes for a brand we were willing to try. Stick with the big brands. Asus is nothing but a big problem.

I got this computer about a year ago, and it never really worked smoothly. It crashed on a daily basis, even though I never did anything more strenuous on it than playing BigFish casual games or 10yo pc games. Several times it simply refused to turn on, and by the time I got in touch with asus tech support, it would magically start up again. Then, precisely one year later, conveniently after the warranty ran out, the hard drive completely died. I've taken it to a computer repair place, and I'm kind of regretting giving them the go-ahead to fix it. I probably should have saved the money for a new computer that's not a piece of crud. I'm now a mac convert entirely because of Asus.
