This firebreather of a computer arrived promptly, and was easy to set up: just put it on my desk and go.

Here's one "but..." the power cord that came in the box was the wrong one-- it wouldn't plug into the back of the computer. Fortunately, I had a spare that works, so it wasn't a showstopper for me.

Another "but...": the camera installed in the computer can't be recognized by the camera software. I've tried the few tricks I know, to no avail, so I've stuck another camera on top of the screen...

Final "but". The touch screen function is grinchy and not at all convenient to use--certainly not by comparison with the iPad I'm using to write this review. I understand that some of this is an inherent flaw in the operating system, but you'd think with all the horsepower the computer has, a proper brute-force software solution would be installed.

And, the means of getting tech support from ASUS isn't made really obvious or clear by the manufacturer.

That said, the image quality on the screen is spectacular, and having such a large screen without the big box under my desk is a real plus.

Overall, I wouldn't spend this kind of money on this product again, and I wouldn't recommend that anyone else do so, either, especially if they hope to use the touch screen feature.

I purchased this pc and all of the functionality was great, but for the price you are paying for, this is not the unit to get. After testing several different models and 3D technologies you wouldn't want to use the Nvidia 3D glasses. I would not recommend the Nvidia glasses. For starters the glasses are way to dark to look through and the software on games you do get ghosting that is very apparent. Would not even think of using them on games after the performance I got(Poor dark picture with very bad qhosting), it takes away from you getting into the game you are playing because the whole quality is poor. On movies the bundled software is supported by Asus and they are behind on the drivers that come directly from the software maker. You can not update direct, you must wait for Asus to bring out thier version. What does this mean? Some 3D blu ray movies will not work. All other features were awesome on this pc but if you want the best 3d out there I would not recommend anything with the Nvidia technology until they come out maybe with a new version of there glasses. I purchased the Sony 3D laptop that just came out, I dont get any ghosting on games the glasses are not dark at all, and because they make the lcd's to do some of the work with their 3D you really get the best quality in 3D period. They even use the nvidia drivers to play 3D games, but with sony's technology built into the screen you would never even know that its the nvidia software. I have not seen anyone that can compare yet and I have tried all the latest models out there. I love 3D for games and movies but you want to be able to focus on the beauty of the game play on it and not the negative effects of poor 3D technology. Sony will blow you away.Read more ›

After a recent, very ugly, unrecoverable (according to two separate forensic IT labs) crash of a total system, I purchased this computer as a replacement. Since I have a home business, I needed something that would handle all the fun stuff as well as serious business applications, and do it in a hurry. This has been a joy. The entire rat's nest of cables did not completely disappear, but it is a fraction of what it used to be. The keyboard is too small for real business work, as is the mouse, but this was easily remedied by using my old Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Do not use and do not want to use the touch screen features for my most frequent applications, that's for my Eeepad Transformer tablet. The computer that crashed cost over $5,000 (not including monitor, keyboard, mouse, modem and router) less than five years ago and was a monster state of the art system at that time. This is almost twice as big and several times more powerful for less than one-half the money. Downloads are so fast if I forget to check, they are complete. I had to replace most of my software and BIG programs download in minutes instead of an hour or more. And on top of all that, it is just so darn pretty...when was the last time you felt that way about a computer???

This is my third Asus product in less than three years, and I have gone from never having heard of them to being a dedicated fan. I have read other reviewers' complaints about Asus tech support, but for me it has always been cordial, cooperative and downright helpful (what a concept!). In three years (I started bugging them several months before I purchased my first Asus product, a laptop), I have never had a bad experience or had an issue that was permanently unresolved. The support staff has even been patiently kind to grey haired old ladies whose knowledge of computers can be written on their thumbnail.
