Promise Ring is nothing deep, but seriously, this girl has a voice!!, October 12, 2007
This review is from: EVANS,TIFFANY - PROMISE RING (Vinyl)
It's somewhat in the vein of Kelly Clarkson's, old Mariah Carey's, Kelly Price, Celine Dion (hate her music, but she has pleasant and like-able power vocals, even though I don't like the voice. Does that make sense???) and Carrie Underwood, but not quite as powerful. Maybe she's another Keyshia Cole? At least she's close!
Heh.
Anyway, Promise Ring is pleasant if not disposable Pop. But the voice must be heard. I just HOPE to the stars above (or God, whichever you prefer) that she gets some material that she can sing (or SANG, whichever) because too many times, over and over I've seen a good singer, not get the right material (Looks at Clay Aiken). I fear that that will happen with her...
Anyway, I wish this girl a successful career (or at least mildly successful, which is what I expect from someone like her). Don't get me wrong, she's a cute girl, and the chances of her possessing a like-able personality is more likely than not, but who's gonna take her seriously? Not many, I fear.
I will tell you this though - If she comes out with 3-4 decent songs, I may buy the album. For the voice though. That's my main goal. To hear her sing!
And boy do I wanna hear her SING!
4 stars. More like 3 3/4 stars, but you can't deny this young voice in training!
