NOT HAPPY BUT CANNOT FIND BETTER OPTION.....
on December 1, 2010
I have tried many options to provide my Kindle DX a protective cover. I am keeping this one until I find a better one.
I started out with an Amazon high quality leather protective case that I loved at first but then ran into a serious issue of having the top connector pull the frame away from the Kindle after a while. Back to the drawing board. I tried a protective cover with the zipper but it was really more of a pouch and I got tired of pulling my Kindle DX in and out of the pouch after using a cover.
The Kindle DX does not have as many options as the Kindle for protective cases/covers. I was not willing to spend $100+ for a Kenneth Cole leather cover so I kept looking. This cover seemed an ideal compromise while I continue my search for the perfect cover. The price was affordable.
As noted by others, I did notice a slight odor but it faded after a couple of days. The cover is not a bad faux leather, not high end, but still nice enough. The only problem I have with this cover is that the inside material transfers onto my pristine white Kindle DX leaving grey marks along the left side frame. ARGGHHH. So far it wipes off with Mr. Clean magic eraser but I am afraid it will leave a permanent mark one day. I got tired of cleaning my Kindle frame on a daily basis so I placed a piece of masking tape along the interior edge that rubs against my Kindle DX frame and that seems to do the trick. Not a pretty sight but it fixes the problem until I find a better replacement.
UPDATE! I had to line the perimeter of the inside cover with tape to prevent discoloring of the Kindle DX and ended up trashing it and purchased a carrying case. There must be a great cover for the Kindle DX out there somewhere but I can't seem to find it.
