I'm running an AMD 64 X2 4000 (Dual core) with 2GB RAM and previously had upgraded from an Nvidia 5900 (128MB) to an Nvidia 7800GS (256MB). My son gave me Warhammer II for fathers' day, and with the 7800GS I could barely squeak by on Low settings at 1280x1024. I popped this baby in and WOW, what a difference! The graphics are really stunning! I've run at 1680x1050 and 1440x900 on high settings, but prefer 1280x1024 on high, which still allows me to get plenty of landscape and yet now I can see the various 'characters' and their attacks in detail quite well. I can see shadows, cracks in the parched soil, reflections on water, detailed explosions and now my game speed has greatly improved (gotta learn to keep up better . . . LOL.) I debated on going with the 512mb version, but with the leaps in gameplay requirements nowadays feel the few extra $$ for the 1GB version were well spent and will keep me happy for a good couple of years.

Also, DVDs played on my computer are crisp with this card on my 22" Viewsonic LCD monitor!

You should note, this is a large video card, and due to it's width will additionally cover the next adjacent PCI slot. Take a look at your motherboard configuration also for placement of the SATA connections, etc., because the length of this card goes all the way to the edge of my MSI motherboard (ATX.) Fortunately, the board's design placed my SATA connectors further to the side (behind the PCI slots instead!); however, you could 'lose' the use of some by the card extending over your SATA connectors.

Even though you could save a few $$ (maybe) by going with a 9800GT / 9800GTX, go with this because it's more 'futureproof' and uses less power. Overall, I'm VERY pleased with this purchase (and got it on sale here, saved an additional $15!!) . . .
