4.0 out of 5 stars Good replacement AGP video card
This was a good replacement AGP video card for older Dell computer that has a limit of 250 watt power supply. My ATI All-in-Wonder video card finally gave up and I did not want to spend alot of money on a video card for an older AGP/PCI based computer system. I have had good experiences with EVGA products before. This supported the high def resolution of new 24" Dell...

2.0 out of 5 stars Works in older AGP 4x/8X ATX motherboards, except ONE ISSUE here
I got this Graphics card as a gift from my son who is an EE.
Good choice of EVGA with Nvidia Gforce 6 chip for a 9 or 10 year old
home user assembled PC. Using in an Aopen AK79G MAX motherboard system
which happens to have Nvidia Chipset with built-in Graphix onboard.
The Mboard BIOS may be too old or there may be something slightly wrong either...

I have had good experiences with EVGA products before. This supported the high def resolution of new 24" Dell monitor. It is a good basic card for older systems. Definitely not a gaming card or for video editing but will extend life of older systems while supporting high resolution wide screen monitors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great card, January 8, 2011

I bought this card about a month ago, it worked great. Very stable, it gave a new life to an old pc and turned it into a low budget media pc. One suggestion, get the DVI to HDMI cable to connect your pc to an HDTV. Also, get a sound cable to connect you pc sound output to your HDTV, the DVI to HDMI cable will not carry sound. if your computer is slow upgrade the RAM.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for older comuters., December 3, 2010
This review is from: EVGA 256-A8-N401-LR e-GeForce 6200 AGP 256 MB DDR2 Graphics Card (Personal Computers)
After some internet research, I put this video card in an old Dell Optiplex GX-260 small tower model with a 250W power supply, and it worked the first time. I had tried two other video cards, but both required 350W of power and would not work in my older computer. A good value for the $ - looking forward to trying the High Def connection!

5.0 out of 5 stars EVGA 256 AGP works well for me, September 19, 2010

My XP Athlon self-built desktop computer (2004) started having all sorts of screen problems. Although I am actively considering a new desktop, I needed this one to last until that time. When all other efforts to fix failed, I decided this card was worth the price. Of course, selection of AGP cards is rather limited. No problems so far. Video seems better than it was on my old ATI card. I haven't bothered to connect an HDMI cable to my 24" Gateway monitor - although I probably will if I haven't replaced the computer first. I am not a gamer so that is not a factor in evaluation. I do fair amount of Photoshopping so I need to recalibrate the monitor for this card if/when I get around to it.

This is a good, quiet card if you want to get Aero effects with Vista/Win7 on a business-class machine. I'm not seeing any of the power consumption issues a previous reviewer mentioned, in a machine with a Nexus 300W power supply. This card has no problems handling day-to-day tasks (aka Office docs & web browsing). Haven't tried anything more intensive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, December 5, 2009

Ok performance, not so great support. BEWARE this video card requires a VERY POWERFUL 12V RAIL ON YOUR POWER SUPPLY. Unless you already have a newer "gaming" power supply I suggest you purchase one if you really want this card. Other than the power problem the card is pretty good. I especially love the additions to nVidia's control panel. I would recommend this to anyone with an older machine that wants to improve it's gaming performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome for older systems, September 21, 2011
This review is from: EVGA 256-A8-N401-LR e-GeForce 6200 AGP 256 MB DDR2 Graphics Card (Personal Computers)
I just junked a computer together for a family friend who got laid off and needed one. Had everything but decent video. So I took a chance and got one of these at a yard sale. It was still in the plastic! Even though the box says 8x it also signals at voltages 4/8x and 2/4x. Most don't understand that if it has the 2 key slots on the connection this is the case. Some need you to add a jumper to activate the 2/4x capability but if they've got both keys they will do both. This is an excellent card for any older aging computer and p4 processors are stupid cheap right now. So if you'd like to put that old computer back to work by a fast p4 and max the ram add this card and your in business. Well that's my 2 1/2 cents worth.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Value, March 28, 2011

Purchased this as a replacement for an older system and it really gave it a boost. This will handle just about everything you can throw at it. Some newer games will not work right but what can you expect from an AGP card. Video runs clean and true. Colors are bright and clear. I would buy from this vendor again.

1.0 out of 5 stars DDR2, not DDR, February 21, 2011
This review is from: EVGA 256-A8-N401-LR e-GeForce 6200 AGP 256 MB DDR2 Graphics Card (Personal Computers)
I have a much older computer and want to stay with DDR, to be on the safe side (and it might even possibly just be totally necessary for me). I called Amazon and asked the rep to double-check, as the picture of the box says this product is DDR2, not DDR. He called EVGA and confirmed that this is in fact DDR2, just like on the pic of the box.

I attempted to correct this misinformation by the "update product info" link at the bottom of the page, but Amazon, for some unfathomable reason, is rejecting my submission efforts.

UPDATE: They're finally working on correcting this, after a ludicrous waste of time on my part with e-mail contact since the "update product info" route was useless. Got the title right now, but not the Technical Details. Close, but no cigar, Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars EVGA AGP 256MB Graphics Card, February 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: EVGA 256-A8-N401-LR e-GeForce 6200 AGP 256 MB DDR2 Graphics Card (Personal Computers)
I purchased this card to replace the graphics card in my Dell Dimension 8300. I had replaced the original graphics card in my computer with a Diamond graphics card that has a cooling fan attached to the heat sink. After several months, the cooling fan became noisy, and I decided to replace the Diamond video card. I was looking for an AGP graphics card without a cooling fan. The EVGA graphics card has a heat sink without the fan and was easy to install without any problems. I downloaded the drivers from the CD included with the card, and it has been problem free and quiet. I wish I had bought this card first instead of wasting my money on the Diamond graphics card.

Just remember, if you are replacing the AGP type card, there is a small clip that holds the card to the circuit board. Be sure to release this clip before trying to unplug the card.
