not bad but was expecting more,

I bought this card replacing my Nvidia 7300, of course the card a lot faster but was kind of expecting more. is a good card for the price but if you want to play the latest games with full dx10 you better get a 8800gts. One of the reason that I decided for the 8600 gts was that it supports DX10. But the truth is that DX demads more from your video card and for me, the 8600 gts is still short. so at the end you will end up playing with DX9c because of performance.I hope this one gets resolved with better drivers

I switched from an ATI X1950GT and didn't really think that it would make such a difference to switch to the GeForce 8600, boy was I wrong!!! Now all my games(Half Life 2, Gears of War, Call of Duty2, Supreme Commander,Quake 4,FEAR...) run smooth and without lag. I am sure that the frame rates could be better and even smoother with the GeForce 8800 but who can afford that if you have real bills like me and when it is double the price of this card. This card is definitely the card to get to get the bang for your buck and then some!!!!

Went from a Nvidia 6150LE onboard with lots of problems playing games. But now I can play games like Oblivion, World of Warcraft, and others at really high resolution. Not choppy at all.

Do the research, it is better to spend the extra $40.00 to go from 8600gt to 8600 gts. I'm not a gamer, but this card is awesome and you can't beat the price here on amazon. Newegg is more. The shipping maybe a little slower than newegg, but it is still free.

Not bad of a card. I have this along with P5VD2-VM SE and an e6600 max ram. It runs great compared to my old system. Though i only scored 6000-6500 on 3dmark06 with DX9c. Again it beat my old AGP build. My main goal was to run Hellgate and Crysis and desent FPS. This card sure delivers. Hellgate plays on high with no FPS lag. Crysis, it runs pretty good at High. It only lags when loading a huge area. eVGA offers the setup program so i might go to the cheap 8800gt soon. This card is good for low budget buyers.

I'm no hardcore gamer but I play a couple. My HP m7760n came stock with a pretty wimpy graphics card so this was a nice upgrade and there doesn't seem to be any power supply issues. It was pretty much a plug and play installation and you have to love that. What depresses me, and I have no idea where the fault lies, is that when I use the DVI out (via DVI to HDMI cable) to connect to my Sharp Aquos 1080P 46" TV the highest resolution that works is 1024 x 768. I was hoping to use my computer as my DVR but playback at that resolution really cripples the effect. I've heard 10 different people give me 10 different reasons why this is happening but I've just settled for using my bigger screen to play emulated 16 bit games in the meantime. If anyone out in Amazon land has a suggestion leave me a comment!

The best thing in this graphics card that its support direct X 10 which is the latest graphics programs in the computer games.I test it on two games FEAR and Lost Planet and it was a very good.More over you can use it as SLI.

I'm Happy With My 8600GTS,

I previously was using a 1GB e-GeForce 8500GT and it just wasn't quite giving me the the frame rates and and video seiings I wanted in my Hellgate: London game. I did not want to upgrade my 350w power supply in order to get a high end video card so I decided to try the 8600GTS which is according to my research about the best card that will still work properly with it. I was not disappointed with my choice. There was a noticeable improvement in performance in all my games with this card. If you want real good performance without upgrading to a 400w or greater power supply then this is the card for you.

I started my first new computer build in about six years, and wanted to keep things within my set budget of about $1k. I'd purchased a GeForce 6600 about two years ago, but it just wasn't keeping pace with World of Warcraft (WoW). Even with all the graphics settings turned down, I was getting an average of 27 fps, and "populated" areas such as Ironforge and Stormwind were starting to choke my machine; games such as Pirates of the Burning Seas or HalfLife 2 were virtually unplayable. So, for the new build, I needed a vid card that provided decent performance for a reasonable price. I settled on this card. The install was easy. Between the slim lines of the card, and the huge case I chose, there was plenty of room. And, because it's a single-slot card, I still have access to the next PCI expansion slot, and don't have to worry about having room when I decide to go to SLI. On boot-up, the card worked fine with the BIOS, and my Windows install had no issues with it. Performance-wise, it's not the greatest card on the planet -- but that's comparing it to the bigger brother: a GeForce 8800GTS. What you get for the money, however, is a stable budget card with great performance for the buck. I'm running WoW with all the graphics settings maxxed out, and getting around 60 fps. The level of detail is amazing; it's almost like playing a different game. The 8600GTS has also been a fairly consistent performer with my video and graphics programs. I can't speak to any issues with HD performance, however; it's not likely something I'll be attempting with this build. I *will* be curious to find out how it performs in SLI. Build Stats: XFX nVidia GeForce 780i motherboard; Conroe E6850 dual-core processor (3.0 gHz); 4GB OCZ SLI-ready PC6400 memory; Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB hard drive; OCZ GameXStream 700W power supply; ThermalTake VA8003BWS Armor case.

I bought this for my new computer and it runs great!! It can play some games with no lags and runs quietly. I'm not a serious gamer so I just bought this for some graphics and videos. I would recommend it for people who is not a serious gamer but just want to play some decent game.
