This is the most affordable of the nvidia 8800GTS boards. Why is it so much less than the others? I don't know. It's wide, chews up a double slot width, but that's not unusual. And it's long: I had to remove my Sony RC110G's chip fan, shroud and cooler to fenagle it into place, then put all that back, but it was well worth it. Took maybe 45 minutes to have it all up and running, start to finish, including driver installation. When the PC first starts up, the fan runs at full speed, but quickly slows to a whisper. The included driver disk would not install properly, but a newer one downloaded from nvidia installed without a hitch. With a 1920x1200 and a 1280x 1024 secondary, I am now running dual digital, thanks to the 8800 GTS's dual DVI outputs. That in combination with RealSoft's UltraMon makes shifting pages from one screen to the next a piece of cake.

I now run CoD4 at full 1920x1200 resolution, and it looks fabulous. No delay in mouse-commanded motion, and imagery is stunning, very detailed and realistic, like playing a different game altogether. I had read reviews that said this card had the horsepower for CoD4, and they were right. I have not heard the on-board fan speed up during play; it remains quiet at all times. My UPS did bark a little; had to move my larger display's power cord over to a surge-only socket so as not to overdo the loading. This card does suck down some power, yes indeed, and my UPS was letting me know. My Sony has a 400W supply; I used the supplied DC power cord to make sure it had the volts it needed, and it worked out fine.

I am very pleased with this card; I think it is a great buy. It is long, right at 10.2" from end to end, so you may need to shift cables and whatnot one way or another to get it installed. But it really performs, and is very affordable.
