Great board. I love it and have bought another. I've also recommended this board, because it hasn't caused me any issues yet (knock on wood).

This board only has some differences to the board itself, as apposed to the P67 model.
The Z68 chip is considered better, but only slightly. It has SSD caching (if you want to use an SSD storage device) and a slight increase in the PWM performance (pulse width modulation).

You get all the great features of the p67 plus some added bonuses mentioned above. You also get the EVGuage V4 and the ECP voltage tweak panel for your frontal drive bay to overclock with the touch of a button.

EVGA's products are top notch and you also get free, 24/7 live technical support with any purchase. What more could you ask for.

I picked up this NEW EVGA Z68 FTW 160-SB-E689-KR for the incredibly low price of $60. I did not read any of the reviews at the time I purchased this motherboard because the price was so good, and I have never had a problem with EVGA products in the past. Recently, I decided to unpack this motherboard and put a nice rig together.

I read every review on this EVGA motherboard at various seller websites. I also carefully checked out the EVGA forums. And that is when my knees began to shake and tremble. Those were the absolute worst horror stories I have ever read about a motherboard and I read a lot of reviews, sometimes daily.

I did not want to even open the package after reading about all the terrible problems people were having with this specific motherboard.

After waiting nearly 4 months, I decided to open the package and try it anyway [all the bells and whistles on this motherboard kept calling my name every time I looked at it]!

Desperately hoping I would be one of the fortunate and lucky ones, I opened the package and began my adventure...

I installed an Intel i5-2500k, a ZALMAN LQ-315 Water Cooler, 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM, a SeaSonic X Series X-850, crossed my fingers, hoped for the best, and hit the power button...all with my knees still shaking and my teeth chattering...

Result: Everything booted up and worked perfect!

Next step, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, permitted Windows to do all the critical updates, and again, everything has worked perfect.

So far, I am very, very happy with this motherboard.

I have left the BIOS at the same exact level it was when I purchased this motherboard: BIOS Version 689 1.

Unless you are one of the lucky few, the MB will probably create extensive frustration. When it works, it is the fastest MB I've ever seen. It is picky about what is used with it; of 7 PSUs, only 2 worked with it, older DDR3 memory isn't liked either. A good friend had one working GREAT; then he had to go for extreme overclocking (5+ GHz) via a water block, and the whole thing turned to crap. I feel for him, as he had the best I'd ever seen. Note: it will work with 32GB of memory.
I bought a case that fits this oversize MB and it made assembly much easier, however the hole in the IO plate for the bios reset had to be enlarged to uncover the end of the tiny button. (case or MB???).
Once it is fully together and everything loaded on 256GB SSD for OS and 2 RAID 0 1TB drives for all else; it will be left alone at 4.1GHz on a 2700K CPU, (it'll do more), with OCed 465GTX/470 MSI Video card. This all keeps up with Crysis at 1920X1080 with good frame rates.
These MBs are selling way below the original 3 bills they started at and are a good bargain for those willing to research the right parts and the patience to work through the irritants. Watch out for bent CPU pins and those that were pushed past 5.? GHz. Also think using the I5 K model is the best bang for the $$.
Good Luck! Amazon the place to buy.
