Beautiful, silky-smooth desktop effects in Kubuntu 12.10. Maximum settings with 60 fps in EVE Online. Only required a single 6 pin aux power connection. Fit easily in my small mini-ATX case. Very quiet.

Great card, could not be happier. Fits inside my stock HP case, uses one power connector, runs fine off original power supply. Runs Civ 5, Diablo 3 at max detail @ 1080p. $100!

I just wish I had more money to spend, then I obviously would have gone with a 'better' card. But since my budget was tight, this card was perfect for me. I can play skyrim on medium to high settings, which makes me happy enough!

I've had good luck with EVGA Nvidia cards, and this one is no exception. It was one of the best bargains in the ~$100 range (as of spring 2013).

If your PC doesn't have a dedicated video card (or has an older one), and you don't want to spend a fortune, this is an _excellent_ upgrade for the price. It will allow you to play all but the most demanding games (and most on high graphic settings without a hitch). No, it's not as fast as a $500 card, but most people won't notice. It also is fairly low on electricity consumption compared to super-duper cards.

Painless installation (I removed previous driver, turned off PC, installed card, booted up, and inserted disc when asked). No problems.

Runs quietly, and I like the fact that it's fan blows air out the back of my PC, rather than letting the case fan do all the work.

Allows me to play all my games on high settings at good frame rates... even Second Life.

Should fit any PCI-e (PCI express) slot. Don't let the "PCIE Express 3.0" scare you; this card is backwards compatible with type 1 or 2 as well (well, the slots themselves are backwards compatible, but whatever). My Vista machine is 7 yrs old and this card works just fine.

Note: Needs 1 internal power cord plugged into the card from your motherboard (cord included in case you don't have one already).

I picked up this baby a month ago at best buy and man is she treating me right. I'm able to play the latest games from high to ultra high settings with a constant 60fps. I upgraded from a GT430 which would run some games on high settings but only up to 30fps and some games like Skyrim on low settings with 20fps.

Ever since I installed this card I've been amazed at the performanceof this "low end" GTX. Frankly, this is all the power you need. If you get anything above this your just wasting money and abusing power since your gonna get the same graphics results and same performance. Graphics don't get any higher than this.

Skyrim runs on high settings by default and it runs at 60fps.
Dead island, 60fps, highest settings
GTA 4, high settings at 40fps (this game really depends on CPU)
The Sims 3, don't even get me started. This game looks like porn now.
Dead space series, maximized but the game is capped at 30fps
L.A Noire, most settings set to quality and runs at its capped 30fps.
Fallout series, default in high but you can force it up to Ultra for better visuals at no impact in performance since this baby can do it all.
Blackops, maximised at 60fps (GT430 would run it at 30fps and sometimes 15 when it gets hectic)
Etc etc. I just stated the games ppl play most that are inmy steam library. I hope this helps to make your mine in buying this beast card!!

I am not new to EVGA Vid cards. This purchase was intended for a mid range desktop that doesn't see any gaming. While overkill for its intended purpose, it appeared to be a good value at it's price point. I have had nothing but stellar experience with EVGA cards in the past. Based on cursory review, this card appeared to fit the users needs. (Build was for Mom)

Unfortunately, I can't attest to the cards gaming performance since we never got past the sound of its fan. The card sounds like a jet engine regardless of the fan % setting specified.

It sounds like a hairdryer on it's high setting. This is with fan % set to 21% (lowest setting), system idle, core temp 22-24c. At the lowest setting, the fan is screaming. I paired it with the latest forceware drivers and EVGA PrecisionX 4.0.1. Change the fan % to 70% and speed increases, but there is only a discernable change in the pitch of the fan sound. Overall, it still sounds like it wants to tear itself out of the case. Literally!

After visiting the EVGA forums, I see this complaint has been mentioned by many users who have this series, 650, 650Ti, and SC. As of this writing, there are no performance related bios updates, fan unlockers, etc available. Others might be willing to accept this, but the noise this thing generates is intolerable for anyone who is expecting a quiet workspace. I understand fan speed increases when the card is being pushed, but several family members actually asked me "what is that noise"? when they entered the room... PC sitting idle. If you don't mind fan noise that dominates your environment, this card might be right for you, but if you are accustomed to quiet until you start gaming... you will not be happy with this card.

Hi Ricochet,

Thank you the extremely thorough review. As someone who spends a great deal of his day in the Amazon reviews section, I appreciate the extra time and effort you spent in reviewing the GTX 650.

I'm sorry about the issue you experienced with your GTX 650. There's no reason for the fan to be that loud in your system, especially with proper cooling and power delivery. Since it looks like you've moved on to a GTX 660 FTW, there's not much I can say at this point. However, always know that you can call our customer support at 1-888-880-EVGA (3842) to see if there are known problems with a card or if you need to RMA a product. We pride ourselves on having industry leading support, and I encourage every EVGA customer to use it when needed.

Thank you again for your review, and thanks for being an EVGA customer.
