Works great at 1680X1050,

This review is from: EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 320 MB PCIe Video Card (Personal Computers)
I use a 20.1" widescreen LCD monitor which runs at 1680 X 1050 resolution. This card runs everything I've thrown at it, including Flight Simulator X, F.E.A.R, Halflife 2, Command & Conquer, etc. with aplomb, all details set to HIGH. So long as you are not exceeding 1920X1200 resolution, this 320 MB card is fine for your use. If you are running extra high resolutions, such as 2560X1600, go for the 640 MB or GTX versions. But this card is an excellent buy for the money.
It does run rather HOT. Make sure your case has adequate ventilation.

If you like 3D PC games and don't have an extra $5-600 in your couch, this is the card to get. It packs enough punch to handle any game at typical resolutions up to 1600x1200 with everything set at high, and it barely breaks a sweat. I'm not at all convinced SLI is worth it for most situations, but as a single video card, this is great!

This review is from: EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 320 MB PCIe Video Card (Personal Computers)
I bought this product after I read many reviews through forums and online-shopping sites and convinced that this is the one I need ..
pros: compared to my other card ( radeon 1950x 512Mb AGP ) I found the EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS performs better although sometimes it`s diffecult to tell in some games .. cons : huge card , needs more space ( you may need to upgrade your case ) conclusion: excellent card with affordable price ..

I just installed this into my Dell Dimension 5150. Originally I had a Radeon X300 card PCIe card. When I opened my system, I looked at the new card and knew there'd be a problem. To get it to fit I had to remove the video card's retaining bracket (the piece that you screw the card to the case). I'm hoping the tension of the card's connector in the socket on my motherboard will be enough to hold it in place, but there's not much room for the card to move around anyway. The second thing I had to do was remove the plastic housing holding the CPU heatsink in place and break off about a third of it so the card could fit. I know that it would be a better idea to get a larger case but I am really cheap and wanted a couple quick upgrades (this card for $130 and a couple gb of ram for $50) so that I could play Oblivion, Mass Effect, and maybe a couple of other Xbox 360 ports instead of spending over twice as much for the system.
Otherwise, the card runs great. I can run all the games I want according to yougamers.com (although I haven't installed any yet). The 4 stars instead of the 5 is for the gigantomousness of the card, although it appears that most cards in this class are behemothlike.

Owns and cheap..., enough said,
This review is from: EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 320 MB PCIe Video Card (Personal Computers)
I had to upgrade to a new rig really badly, almost all the games coming out I could not play and there were a few titles that I really wanted to get my hands on, so, when income tax came around, I wanted to build a new one, but, on a budget. This card did what I wanted it to do and, more importantly, didn't cost my eternal soul to get it. I did wait a little bit to get this card because I new that Nvidia was about to release their 9800 series graphics cards making the previous series drop down in price. Amazon always has the cheap prices on good quality products, so, I wasn't surprised when I did my search on the internet stores and found that I would be buying this product through amazon. The graphics card came with a collection of bundled products that I had order previously and were all in good quality shape, the 8800GTS box wasn't even remotely damaged and was really secure. Like most products I've gotten from Amazon, this one came a day earlier than expected, again, a praise on the fast shipping of Amazon's part.
As far as comparing this card to my previous, their isn't one, this card ran circles around it, even games, I THOUGHT, played well on my old 6800S (FEAR, FarCry, Condemned) played so smoothly with this one that I had motion sickness for about two days, only one game has done that to me and that was URU. The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion plays with all the eye candy on and at the highest resolutions possible without any lag or stuttering even when you are riding at full speed on the fastest horse through the dense thick forests of Cyrodil. BioShock, a recent game I purchased, ran at its fullest strength as well and went ever so smoothly (and looked better than the XBox 360 Version). So far, this card has played ever game I've thrown at it save for one..., and yes, that is Crysis, the Single Player Demo, but, it doesn't look poor, you can still play it with decent frame-rates above 40FPS mostly with high detail on, some AA on and at 1280x800. You can play full res and no AA if thats your thing, I did. I think the best part about this, is that, this card is so cheap that you could, theoretically, get two and SLI them together, which, is something I will do maybe if a game comes along that I really like and can't play as it was meant to be played (which, I don't see that happening really soon). But by itself, the EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 320 MB PCIe Video Card will own any game that you throw at it and doesn't get burned doing so. Another good product for a budget build.

Amazing video card, I am howver having to upgrade my system cooling. This card runs (Idle) at 75c and under load at well over 80c. It maintains stability, but is so hot! I would still recomend this card to anyone that wants great graffics at a low price. (The money you save will be spent on cool LED Fans, and mesh windows to lower your ambient temperature) Lol.

Ordered an 8800GTS 320 from a seller (junior330ci) hoping to SLI with the other one i have. Got an 8800GTS 640 instead :|. I did have trouble initially with SLI config, but a few tweaks later, worked like a charm. So the deal was a win-win for me... I can run memory and GPU intensive games, just that its either memory intensive or GPU intensive, not both.
As for the product, I've known it for two years, and its only with recent games that it shows performance glitches, mainly GTA4 and crysis (maxed out). other games post nice fps numbers, the power consumption is too much and you can get rid of the room heater too. Anyway, gunning for a brand new rig now.

I bought this card on May 2008 for $130 in amazon. My previous card was a 7900GS. The upgrade was noticeable. This card performs almost twice as fast as the 7900GS. At the time I bought this card the was nothing comparable for the price.
I will run most new high demanding games at 1280x1024 on high settings, except for GTA 4, which is more likely to be due to my athlon x2 5000 processor. The fan is very quiet at 60%, but the card in my case iddled at 65C, and went up to 80C at full load. But the card seems to be ok with those temperatures. Overclocking this card was a breeze too. eVGA has a tool called Precision which allows easy overclocking and monitoring of the card. I was able to up the core clock from 512 to 648 and the memories up to 2052 mhz. that more than 20% overclocking with the stock cooling and never got any artifacts. 3DMark 06, with my processor achived 10500 marks when overclocked. I don't think i could possibly ask for more from this card at this price. But getting it for anything above $130 today is not a good idea anymore, considering that the HD 4830 can cost as low as $100 and a 8800/9800GT also can be had for about the same price. In its time, it was great bargain.

Performance is above for the price tag. No overheating, no screen artifacts after long hours of peak use, stable as a hard rock.
VRAM may be a little low for some hardcore gamers. We purchased it specifically for developing XNA Games on XBOX 360, so a video card that could resemble the XBOX hardware was the main idea, but it's actually more powerful than the video card on the XBOX360. Shipping was fast, no delays, no damaged components. |
