4.0 out of 5 stars Decent mid-range graphics card
Installation was a breeze, I just popped in the card and Windows 7 recognized everything and took care of it all.

The card is not top of the line, but it handles most games fine. I was able to play counter-strike: source at the maximum settings, and world of warcraft at above average settings with no lag issues. In regards to the issue many users are...

2.0 out of 5 stars Fan death common
It seems from the reviews that I read that the fan has bad bearings- I did not heed this, and decided to buy it regardless. Well needless to say it died- started whining then wouldn't boot to BIOS. I unplugged the fan and tapped a case fan to the card and it works again! So just be warned about the standard fan- there is a great chance it will go out. FYI, video card...

FYI, video card fan lasted for less than a month for me, but I threw out the packaging- hence no return, besides I have a workaround!

The card is not top of the line, but it handles most games fine. I was able to play counter-strike: source at the maximum settings, and world of warcraft at above average settings with no lag issues. In regards to the issue many users are reporting with the fan I have had no issues yet. I have left the computer on since I installed it months ago, and their have been problems.

The only downside I would point out with this card is that their is no HDMI port. I would have liked to have seen this option included as their are other cards in this price range that have that feature. Otherwise I am very happy with my purchase, and would recommend this card to anyone who is not looking for bleeding edge technology.

This is an awesome card. I was a little worried because tigerdirect vlog Rated this as a basic card. It's not basic.
NFS Prostreet: 34 fps @ 52°
NFS Mostwanted 42 fps @ 49°
The Witcher Enhanced Edition 37 fps @ 61°
Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box 38 fps @ 60°
All on max settings. Gonna start Sims 3 soon. Hope it plays it fast.
All temps are in °C.
And it arrived fast. Sooner than Projected by 2 days

4.0 out of 5 stars Great card for starting out, May 29, 2011
This review is from: EVGA GeForce 9500GT 1GB DDR2 PCIe Graphics Card (01G-P3-N958-LR) (Personal Computers)
I have had this card for about 4 years, it has carried me through lots of games, but for the price of it as its shown a 9800GT is the same price and twice as fast. I love this card though and you cannot go wrong for basic low end gaming... plays many games in a mid-level on my Athlon fx2 5600 with 6gig ram win7 64bit and do everything at 1920x1080.

This is AN EXCELLENT upgrade for a stock PSU pc from most on-board graphics, in 2011 though it doesn't have dx11 support, but then again, its the same speed as a dx11 card and won't process those requests so your FPS doesn't take the same hit like the same level card that's new. if you have the PSU wattage get the 9800GT for this price-point, if you don't this will be better than on-board and plays most games acceptably. (plays battlefield 2 like a champ and Modern Warfare as well)

I have never had a fan issue, 4 years on the stock fan.. but I do not leave my machine on 24/7, I use it about 5-6 hours a day though. I do blast it out win canned air once a month...

I would give it 5/5 but as I said the 9800GT is as of 5/2011 the same price, so you can't give it 5 stars if you can get more for the same price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Upgrade, April 14, 2010

This review is from: EVGA GeForce 9500GT 1GB DDR2 PCIe Graphics Card (01G-P3-N958-LR) (Personal Computers)
This is a very good graphics card, at least for the average user (a mix of games and home productivity tools). It really improves the performance of the video (noticeable mainly on games). Very easy installation. I bought one for my Win XP and one for my Windows 7, both worked flawless. The fan is not so bulky, so there is no problem with the space between slots. And the price is good. So in general, it is recommended. I don't know about more professional applications, but for COD4, COD5 and similar graphic applications/games it is very good.
Product packaging was also very good (I packed both cards with my luggage to go home from Florida and they had no problems)
Service was fast also, I used the second day delivery, and arrived on-time.
Thanks. Daniel

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Budget Card, December 5, 2009

I bought this card a month or two ago to play Mass Effect and do some solid modeling. It works perfectly and runs smoothly at the highest resolution my monitor supports (1440x900). I don't know if the card is actually dishwasher safe, but apparently Amazon thinks it might be. I wonder if that's covered under the warranty. It snapped right in and driver install was simple. Again, I'm not sure how durable it is because I didn't go dragging it around outside...but it works...still.

Went to all the trouble and work to install and 9500 card and the S Video would not work :(

Got out my old CD for the 8600 and the new CD upgraded abit.

My old card after reinstalling it poped on with the new software
and worked fine. Only thing is is over 5 yrs old not a young card
and how much life left WHO knows?

So will it work after you buy it?

Video card was marketed as Windows 7 64bit compatible (which it is), but the CDRom isn't recognized for any system beyond Vista and XP. Makes for a messy problem if you have portrait monitors until you can find and download the current software. Poorly inconvenient and a bit misleading.

My Nvidia 8400 GS (the most basic card Nvidia offers) died out, so I decided to replace it with the 9500 GT. It's only a small step up, but my computer's power source won't handle anything too advanced. It was no trouble to install, plug-and-played like a charm, and I DO notice a difference in graphics capability--faster and smoother loading. However: I used Nvidia's "select and compare" page to do my research. The way the descriptions are worded, it sounds like the only port the 9500 GT doesn't offer is VGA. But it has one of those. HDMI? Not so much. It irks me that by upgrading to a higher quality card I sacrificed the highest quality port (if I'd read all the reviews here I wouldn't have made that mistake). So if you want your PC to hook up seamlessly to a flat screen TV--for example--this one isn't for you. If HDMI connectivity isn't a priority, knock yourself out.

4.0 out of 5 stars computer upgrade, June 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: EVGA GeForce 9500GT 1GB DDR2 PCIe Graphics Card (01G-P3-N958-LR) (Personal Computers)
I bought this video card to bump the power of game playing experience, for my computer. On borderlands the frame rate smoothed out in the really tense scenes so that you weren't pulling the trigger 10 seconds before something happened. In vindictus I went from 6 FPS on low setings to 60+ on med-hi.
The fan on the vid card is noticeable, but not annoying. Also every once in awhile I get interruptions in the frame rate, that's why I took a star off. But, that may be due to server issues.
But for the price, this card is very capable.

for reference I have an Emachines ET1331G duel core@2.7ghz, 6 gig Ram.

Installing te card was very easy. plug the card in , plug the power in, and let internet find the driver and install them.
