4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent upgrade from stock cards, value for cost
I own a Dell Dimension 9150 (3.2 GHz P4 w/4 GB RAM) that was shipped with an ATI X300SE 128MB card, which had one VGA/one DVI out. I use two monitors, an Optiplex Q19wb 16x9 and the OEM Dell 17" monitor.

Installing this card in my x16 PCI Express slot was simple...I powered down the PC, removed the old card, and installed the new one. The card ships with...

1.0 out of 5 stars Unsatisfactory
I was quite disappointed with this product. After less than two months of use the fan suddenly quit spinning up. This caused the GPU to overheat quickly and unexpectantly while playing a graphics intensive game. I originally purchased this item based on all the positive reviews here but now that my card is overheating I find that other consumers have had the same...

This review is from: EVGA GeForce 9500 GT 1024 MB DDR2 PCI Express 2DVI/HDTV SLI Ready Graphics Card, 01G-P3-N959-TR (Personal Computers)

The card ships with two DVI to VGA adapters, since the output for the card is DVI, these adapters are needed for normal VGA operation...something not noted in the product description at my time of purchase, and I almost bought an extra adapter, but I am glad I waited to find them in the box!

I booted the PC, and my system recognized it immediately, and searched for hardware...insert the enclosed disc, and within a few minutes, the software installed. The secondary screen was not available, and the original screen was skewed on completion...I rebooted, and the GForce software came up upon Win XP SP3 load.

The interface was extremely easy to use, it guided me through setup for each monitor and let me choose settings I needed. I like that fact that it allows me to run each monitor independently with different refresh rates, color balance and size, while still allowing my secondary monitor to be an extension screen of the first. There are several to choose from, including identical, separate or clone.

The hardware acceleration setups are very simple, offering a slider bar to help the user choose from Performance or quality, or a balance. The active DirectX display video shows you the difference as you adjust the bar.

There is also a setting that allows you to use a test pattern to allow your monitors to self-adjust based on the video output.

Included in the package: Card, S-Video cable, S-Video to component out adapter, two DVI to VGA adapters, Setup disc and short manual

I found this card to be an excellent and low cost upgrade for my PC from 128MB to 1 GB which allows me to use software such as video editing (Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus in full HD AVCHD mode with little lag), and Google Sketchup with faster rendering and less system hang.

An excellent buy, all around efficient card, and easy to install with average computer skills.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Card, Nice Price, August 13, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: EVGA GeForce 9500 GT 1024 MB DDR2 PCI Express 2DVI/HDTV SLI Ready Graphics Card, 01G-P3-N959-TR (Personal Computers)
Wow. This video card improved my gaming graphics by a whole ton, 55 FPS average on COD4 with 2x AA 1280x720 resolution. 50 FPS average on COD5 1280x720 no AA. On need for speed, 40 FPS average with settings to the max. On Flight Simulator X (which is a real big hog) 30 FPS on High settings. The video card temperature never went up over 70 degrees centigrade, which is very good. The card is rated for a very high temperature before breaking. The card came with an overclocking utility, profile settings for each program, and real time video card stats. I fully recommend this if you have a tight budget, but are itching to have better graphics and performance. This card doesn't need a whole lot of power supply and is SUPER QUIET.

I bought this card based on the reviews I saw here.
It has more features than what I currently use, I also got this card
to be able to use it in an updated/better/Uber computer at a later date.
my last card burnt up/exploded/or something, due to me overclocking an
already overclocked card.
this card Exceeds my current computers abilities which is a good thing.
Ive always had good luck with Nvidia, I'm a gamer and fly online
flight Sims with up to fifty other people. frame rate is an issue and
can be limited by your connection speeds as well as your video card.
so if you eliminate the issue on your end you'll solve 90% of your problems.
It comes with some great utilities which enable you to set your own
parameters - shaders, core speeds, fan speeds, memory speeds as well as
allowing you to monitor the GPU temps.
AND links it to your G15 keyboards LCD screen.....ingame.
but I allways take these reviews with a grain of salt - so to speak
cause some people trash on some products and others raves are way to good
to be true.
I only gave it 4 stars cause I dont have the ability to see its full
potential yet. when I do I'll come back here and let you know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks really good so far..., October 23, 2009

This review is from: EVGA GeForce 9500 GT 1024 MB DDR2 PCI Express 2DVI/HDTV SLI Ready Graphics Card, 01G-P3-N959-TR (Personal Computers)
After realizing that I could buy two 25.5 inch ASUS monitors for considerable less than the cost of my original 19 inch monitor, I wanted to get two. I use very large spreadsheet and with that old monitor I could have characters so small, I could hardly read them.

Within five minutes of their installation, I realized that I needed a new video card to make good use of those new monitors. My old card had one VGA port and one DVI and that card was nowhere close to producing 1920 x 1200 that those new monitors could handle.

I did not know just quite what to get and had to spend time checking out the compatibility of those newer PCI-Express 2.0 graphics cards with my old Dell Dimension 9100 which was said to handle the PCI-Express 1.0 cards and also had a 375 watt power supply.

Eventually, I determined the power supply was adequate with some new video cards including the EVGA 01G-P3-N959 since that card needed 350 watts. I also learned that if your PC handles the PCI-Express 1.0 cards, it should hand the 2.0's. I don't know if I needed 1GB of memory, but I saw some good customer reviews on that card, so I went ahead and got it.

I had not installed anything on that PC, so I proceeded with the installation on a slow step-by-step basis. After about 4 hours of reading and tinkering, I got the new monitors in sync with the new video card and am very glad that I did as the 1920 X 1200 is wonderful with those large worksheets. I can even prop my feet up on my desk and sit back 3 feet and everything is quite clear. Now that I know just how to install the card and match up those new monitors with the new card, I could do it all in about 30 minutes and have encouraged friends to do what I did.

When I put the cost of the monitors less their rebates together with the cost of the new video card, it was less than $600 and definitely worth it. Perhaps I will do more tinkering and see just what else I can do with that new card. But for right now, everything is wonderful.

I purchased this video card in order to have dual monitor output. I do wedding photography and having more visual landscape is always a plus.

This card was a breeze to install on vista. No complaints at all! I have it driving a 28" hanns, and a 22" acer, and both work perfectly. I also have a pantone pro dynamic color calibrator device linked to the computer, which works seamlessly with the graphics card driver. Recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars high performance at lower power, October 15, 2008

The 9500GT graphics card from NVIDIA is an excellent solution if cost and power limitations do not allow using the 280gtx. We use it as an accelerator in scientific programming, and it reached about 50% of the performance of the high-end cards.

I use this card mostly for protein folding@home using its CUDA support.

It will run all night at maximum load without overheating.

It can also handle Second Life on the "ultra" setting with very little lag.

This product is a good stable budget device for scientific calculations and it is a pretty good video card as well.

Put this in son's computer for online gaming and it made a big difference, didn't make it perfect, but enough. We went for the 9500 because it was about as big as I could go without straining the power supply (350W). If you buy EVGA, go to their web site for rebate possibilities. A rebate wasn't shown for this, but there was one on their web site ( and it didnt matter where you purchased it.) Easy to install, too.
