5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
These cards are really excellent. You can't do better for the price. I have a gtx280 and gtx260. They perform similarly, but the gtx260 is almost half the price.

Basically, the gtx260 does fine on a good 500W power supply with enough amps (mine is on an Antec Earthwatts with two 17amp +12volt rails).

The gtx280 needs more power. I have mine on...

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not support Photoshop CS5
Running Photoshop CS5 has been a pain, since it is not on their supported video card list. Having owned this card for about two years, the brushes in Photoshop lag. Running Premiere Pro is also a challenge. If you run these programs, look elsewhere for a card. I would recommend the Gigabyte GTX 570 instead. This card also has problems running the newest NVIDIA drivers...

I have mine on a 720W Enermax which is probably more than enough. I could SLI two 260s on it.

The gtx260 is well-matched to a 22" or smaller widescreen LCD monitor at 1680x1050.

The gtx280 is well-matched to 24" screen size at 1920x1200 (Full HD).

Both of the cards look alike, are the same large size, and both idle cool and quiet and exhaust the hot air outside the case. Even under load, the cards do not get too loud.

Good engineering, good price, and in my experience very stable and high-performing Vista drivers (32 and 64 bit).

A next level card. I'm happy this time around. The gtx260 core216 is a great buy, just make sure you can fit it in your case and have an adequate power supply.

I currently play both at 1440x900 with everything max out, DX10 tweaked, and modified for Ultra mode (done in Warhead benchmark), and practically never goes below 30 fps, almost always at 35-40 fps. It's pointless to talk about every other game benchmarks, but I can say that all of them plays at maxed visuals (1680x1050) without a hinch!!!

P.D.: EVGA 275 looks great too!!! If u have the money go for that one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every dime !!!, June 25, 2009
This review is from: EVGA GeForce GTX260 Core 216 896MB DDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card 896-P3-1255-AR - Lifetime Warranty (Personal Computers)
After much looking and thinking about stepping up to a card of this caliber I did make the plunge. I have two SLI computers and have spent a lot of money for two cards but never this much for a single card.
I was very pleased to see the the windows rating topped out at 5.9 with this card and better yet plays movies at High res. all day long. Game play is second to none that I have played with this card. Getting it into my case however took a little work. I did have to move some of my wiring to get it in and buy a few sata cables that had right angles to clear by laying flat out of the way. The length of this does require a mid atx or full case to work. Mines a mid atx case, This single card works as well as my SLI computers at a lower cost figuring all the extra components required to complete a SLI set up. DDR2 computers can really benefit from running a DDR3 video card.
Buying this card has been a great experience for me. Hope this help's make spending this much for a video card a easy one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bang for your buck for a PCIX Video Card, November 22, 2009

At the Amazon price of $189.99 this card offers exceptional performance at an extremely attractive price. When combining two GTX 260 Core 216 cards in SLi mode the performance exceeds that of a GTX295 costing hundreds more. I am definitely a proponent of Evga and Nvidia based cards. Evga was one of the first to offer a lifetime warranty even if you overclock. This still holds true with all their top shelf video cards and motherboards. Some of the sub-$100 video cards no longer offer a lifetime warranty. Another reason I choose Evga is that their corporate headquarters is 15 miles from mine. Returns are simple. I have installed 28 Evga video cards and 32 Evga motherboards. I have had to return 2 video cards, and required a new SPP fan for one motherboard so far. This card performs well under pressure.

This is like my 3 or 4th EVGA card(had a ,7800,8600, 8800 before) and like all the previous cards it's been reliable and runs like champ. Just make sure you have a decent power supply to run this thing since the card is alot bigger than it looks in the picture!
Other than the quality and reliability of EVGA the other reasons I tend to choose their cards is for the step-up program they offer and their excellent support via their online forums.

This card replaced my 8800gt. Which is still a great card for the average gamer right now. But I needed more frames, you know what I'm talking about. This card easily OC's to Super clocked edition with a negligible heat increase (Even higher clocks with a few degrees increase). So don't buy the Superclocked 260 216.

The eVGA Precision tool is such a great tool. Love the ease of use and the non-existent resource usage.

Can't wait to get this thing running on Windows 7 and DX 10(Card and tool).

Don't wait! BUY THIS CARD NOW BEFORE THE $30 MiR goes away and BATMAN!!

Side note: it can run on a 450w PSU with decent rails (personally tried it, it was running 2x hard drives 3x fans and 1x DVD drive and this card). Don't let the minimum wattage ratings fool you. If your PSU has good power, don't worry about upgrading PSU's. Just make sure your PSU is from a reputable company.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Card still going strong after 3 years of gaming..., August 25, 2011
This review is from: EVGA GeForce GTX260 Core 216 896MB DDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card 896-P3-1255-AR - Lifetime Warranty (Personal Computers)
Picked up the GTX260 when I built my LINUX Workstation 3 years ago. Ubuntu recognized it right off the bat and both proprietary Vendor Closed Source drivers *and* Open Source drivers were available and the graphics performed very well with either in use. First game I loaded up was 'World In Conflict' (lots of High res game play) and cranked it out to max res and effects, no problems, World of Warcraft was next and posed no challenge to the card in comparison to WIC and even ran at a higher framerate under WINE in LINUX than it did natively in Windows XP on the same hardware (I later got rid of my windows partition as Ubuntu LINUX provided more than what I needed as a software developer and gamer). The card has already outlasted the original power supply. Also nice to see that the price has dropped to almost half at the time of this review. Definitely worth the money, just make sure that your PSU can take the load!

I run this on an EVGA X58 SLI motherboard sporting an i7 processor.
