5.0 out of 5 stars Great food
This is the ONLY dog food my Shepherd mix will eat. For the 2 reviews above, your dogs are unique and prob. have an intolerance. Evo is a wonderful food, Eukanuba has MANY things that are horrible for your dog to eat. Evo has NO corn or by-products which are very bad for dogs. 2.0 out of 5 stars Be careful
I know that today many manufacturers push this "grain-free" diet for dogs...reminds me of the Atkins diet for humans. Good for some not for everyone. Long story short, I tried to give my 65 pound border collie lab mix this food by slowly adding it to his diet. Within two weeks he developed awful diarrhea and started throwing up every now and again. Sure enough, once I...

Whenever looking for food stay away from dog foods with ANY corn or by-products. Eukanuba and Iams are CONSTANTLY recalling their food. I work at a local pet shop and in the past year they have had recalls 5+ times, no other food has been recalled.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome dog food..., June 25, 2011
This review is from: EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Dog Food (Misc.)
I have a 100lb Bullmastiff. 4 years old now. I spent the first two years looking for a dog food that she wouldn't get sick on. Tried Cannidea, Purina Pro Plan, and Taste of the Wild. Ran into the EVO and she loves it. Coat is shiney and she's never been healthier. What that saying, all dogs are not created equal. It just works extremely well for my dog. If you have a food that works, stick with it. But if your looking for a great grain-free dog food, look no further.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent food, March 20, 2011
This review is from: EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Dog Food (Misc.)
Innova made the first grain free dog food. I was feeding my Great Pyrenees Innova because at the time it was the best avaialable and any food containing white rice, corn, or wheat caused her too chew on herself, lick her feet and gave her ear infections and a terrible odor. When the Evo line was created by Innova I switched her to that. I have have never had any issues with my dog she is 11 years old without any ailments prone in this breed or any senior dogs. For the reviewer that fed it to her large breed puppy...Evo has always maintained that this food be for adult dogs it was never meant for large breed pups. It has a very high calcium content not good for large pups that need to grow slowly. I also find it hard to believe an ingredient change caused myriad health problems and that Eukanuba was the answer for an ailing dog. Eukanuba stopped being a quality food in the late 1990s. Evo has always had the exact formulation with the exception of the added taurine in the ingredient list and the peas now in the cat food. There has been a huge back lash towards Innova lately do to their being bought by Iams. So far the food is still made at their own plant, and ingredients are the same. My Pyr is hypersensitive to changes in diet I have yet to see any difference in the quality of this food. Now it seems every manufacturer has gone "grain free" they split ingredients so 3 types of potato products etc. they use more veggies and fruits. Check these dog foods and read the meat content the kcal etc.. Evo still contains the most meat at 80% and still the only one I feed.

4.0 out of 5 stars My puppy looks amazingly HEALTHY!, December 6, 2011
This review is from: EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Dog Food (Misc.)
My puppy is a four-month-old mutt that weighs just over 40 pounds. I've been feeding him EVO since we brought him home at 9 weeks, and he looks like it. Literally the first thing any vet says upon seeing my puppy is, "He looks so healthy. [check ears, eyes, belly] What are you feeding him?" His coat is so glossy that it looks like it's just been slicked with oil, but it's surprisingly soft to the touch. His eyes are bright, he has plenty of energy, and he just looks and acts super-healthy. Although he has occasionally had loose stools (this food does seem to be low in fiber), we've fixed that by adding a spoonful of pumpkin every now and then. He considers this is a treat, and it's a super-cheap fix.

Innova offers a feeding calculator on their website, and I've found this very helpful in determining how much to feed puppy. He gets three walks a day (total of about an hour), and I feed him according to this calculator plus I use extra EVO as treats. This approach is spot-on for him - he's never been in the least bit over- or underweight. [...]

I'm docking a star for cost and availability. Because puppy is so big at this stage of his life, he's eating about a pound of this food each day. I can't get this food locally, so with shipping we end up spending around $65/month to feed the dog. I've *very* reluctantly had to switch to another food because of this. However, I'm hoping to switch back later on when he is older and doesn't need the extra caloric intake of a puppy.

5.0 out of 5 stars EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Dog Food, January 26, 2011
This review is from: EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Dog Food (Misc.)
This is one of the best dog foods on the market as far as I'm concerned and my Lab has no issues. The ingredients speak for themselves. If someone says this food made their dog sick, I'd be very interested to know what specific ingredient(s) caused problems according to their vet. I don't remember what the ingredient change was, but the current list of ingredients is excellent. I get the large bites, 28.5 lb bag for $50 at Uncle Bills.

Long story short, I tried to give my 65 pound border collie lab mix this food by slowly adding it to his diet. Sure enough, once I stopped and replaced it with Fromm's duck and sweet potato (not completely grain free but still very good in my opinion)
and Fromm's Surf and Turf, he turned into a healthy dog he's always been. I am not trying to advertise Fromm foods here but just wanted to warn other about this particular Evo formula. It's not good for every dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic food! Don't listen to the haters..., April 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Dog Food (Misc.)
We love this dog food and so does our dog. Reading all of these bad reviews, they sound like advertisements for whatever other food they recommend (Blue Buffalo whatever...). The bottom line is, read the ingredients label and find out for yourself what is in the food. There's nothing but great stuff for your dog in here...I don't know how all dogs would suddenly get diarrhea from eating food that consiste of chicken/turkey/vegetables/etc.? Obviously there are other great foods out there as well, but this one is terrific, my dog loves it, and it's reasonably priced for what it is. Our dog has always been very healthy with this food, has a great coat and plenty of energy. We couldn't be happier with this. Again, don't take anyone else's word for it...just read the label and pick out a food that works for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doggie Diarrhea! Back to Blue Buffalo Wilderness..., April 5, 2011
This review is from: EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Dog Food (Misc.)
Our three dogs have been grain free for over a year, and we were feeding them Taste of the Wild almost that whole time. However, they had TERRIBLE, persistent gas everyday, so we decided to try a different brand of food. We transitioned our boys to Blue Buffalo's Wilderness line (grain-free), and they did wonderfully for about four months - very little gas, healthy coats, and minimal dog-doo, too (which is a big deal considering we have a Mastiff, a Boxer, and an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog). Amazon didn't offer Blue Wilderness for Prime (free shipping), so I was going to the store and lugging heavy food bags at least twice a month. First we decided to try Nature's Variety Instinct (grain-free line), which gave them slightly more gas and couldn't be purchased locally. We like to buy on Amazon, but sometimes, with three big dogs, we run out faster than I anticipate - having a local store for emergencies is pretty important for us. We went back to Blue Buffalo for a couple months, and then next we decided to try EVO - all of my research said this was the absolute BEST. Well, as the title of this review indicated, all three of our boys got miserable diarrhea. We transitioned our boys slowly, but once we went over one-half EVO, all three of the boys filled the yard with 100% liquid stool. Poor guys! We transitioned them back and once they were below fifty percent EVO, their movements went back to normal - but only after two days of constipation. Our boys are back to feeling good, and we're back to buying Blue Buffalo Wilderness. You don't know unless you try, I guess, but I feel terrible for putting the boys through that. Good luck to everyone searching for a new favorite food.

I usually feed my dog Dr. Harvey's, which he thrives on, but sometimes like to give him crunchy dog food just for variety. Received a sample packet of this dog food at a fund-raising festival for a local animal shelter. Fed my Bichon just a small handful of this food the next day, and while he loved the taste, he was UP ALL NIGHT WITH DIARRHEA that lasted into the next day. He's still recovering. I absolutely will not take a chance with this food again, especially after reading that some other reviewers had similar experiences.

1.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps they should warn people when they change their ingredients...?, February 18, 2010
This review is from: EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula Dry Dog Food (Misc.)
In Nov/Dec of '09, Innova decided to change the ingredients in this particular line of food. No need to let your paying customers know. $400 worth of vet bills later, and a bout with pancreatitis (my dog of course), I realize it's this food that is causing the problems. They later confirmed in email that they did in fact change the ingredients; however, they did not confirm whether they would pay my vet bills.
Not to mention, they also changed their guidelines recommending this food NOT be fed to large breed puppies, whereas it was previously fine.

They tout themselves as some Natural, good for your dog, food, doubtful.

AVOID
