Decoded Feedback has come a long way since the days of Overdosing, and they've done so by changing their expression to fit the face of the times. They were one of the first bands to refined their sound and jump into an era without voxing (Mechanical Horizons), and they done so with mixed critical-success (Shockwave). The press has been largely unjustified though, and is mostly because listeners want a return to the way things were. The way the things showcased on Decoded Feedback's big hits, Technophoby and Evolution, with Evolution getting the highest praise and for all the right reasons.

And, while I disagree in some rights, I have to say that this album is great.

Decoded Feedback has been one of the EBM frontrunners that I find myself really wanting more of, and that's because the songs they manufacture have quite a bit to offer. They were actually one of the first bands to truly get me into voxing, and they were one of the first to also show me the mask that dancefloor darkwave actually wears when addressing the crowd. Point in case: I heard a DJ spinning Bio-vital once upon a time and I saw ravers moving to it, writhing to the anthem, and I kept thinking to myself about how utterly bleak and lovely that song was when rolling into the mind. It talks about how life flashes when things "turn opposite," how hate and life interconnect and how it all glows, and how the sparks life creates are magical. It then goes on to say that everyone has witnessed it but that he "sees it," that he's seen "bodies shining like stars," and that he "sees the light in your eyes." And there I was, all this in hand, in a sea of vacant faces that were grinning like blights limping to the beat.

Evolution is alot like that, mixing the dancefloor medium with interesting pieces that are poetic in many a right, and that carry weight within them. It has six unique pieces to the album, and houses a lot of remixes from Bio-Vital that are, in a word, great. I personally like the way the album flows together, with pieces like Endless Light working really well, and I like the extinction message that the song Evolution has within it. All those smiling faces, all the blinking lights fathering bigger bangs and louder booms for tone-deaf populations to ignore; I can buy it.

"EVOLution" is my first Decoded Feeback cd. I recently discovered them on MySpace and I liked the songs they had on their media player from "EVOLution". I was automatically reminded of other great electro/industrial bands like Velvet Acid Christ and Suicide Commando, especially with Marco Biagiotti's distorted vocals. It took me several listens for "EVOLution" to grow on me. This was probably not the best Decoded Feedback cd to begin with for new listeners like myself but I had to hear the group's cover of the Frozen Autumn song "Bio-Vital" which is simply awesome. Another great song is "Infect Me". Marco's vocals is a bit more cleaner and there is a more atmospheric element in the music similiar to Sisters of Mercy and Clan of Xymox. The first six tracks on the cd are original songs and the final six are remixed versions. To be honest, I prefer the original versions. I was rather bored with the remixes. I definitely prfer the original cover of "Bio-Vital" over the Fictional remix. "EVOLution" is good but not an ideal choice for a new DE fan like myself but it certainly cemented my admiration for the group and their music.

Decoded Feedback's latest release, EVOlution, has a great sound, but note that this is not a completely new album. While all of the tracks on the CD are previously unreleased material, 7 of the 13 tracks are remixes, and a few of the new tracks seem a little bland. Still, Decoded Feedback delivers a healthy dose of industrial goodness with EVOlution. If you're a Decoded Feedback fan, go ahead and purchase this album...you won't regret it.

I FIRST HEARD OF DF AT A RECORD STORE WHEN A SALES GUY TOLD ME THEY SOUNDED LIKE WUMPSCUT. I PICKED UP THE DISK TECHNOPHOBY, AND WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED. IT SOUNDED SO BASIC, AND LACKING ANYTHING THAT REALLY APPEALED TO ME. I GAVE UP ON THEM PRETTY FAST. YEARS LATER A FRIEND WAS LISTENING TO THIS DISK, AND I ASKED HIM WHAT IT WAS. I WAS FLOORED WHEN HE TOLD ME IT WAS THESE GUYS. WHAT A GOOD CD! SO MUCH MORE EVOLVED THAN THEIR PREVIOUS DISK, THIS ALBUM WAS A TRIUMPH OVER IT. GREAT BEATS, GOOD VOX, AND A NICE FLOW MAKE THIS A GOOD LISTEN, WHEN YOURE IN THE MOOD.

If you just love EBM then you got have to get this CD - it's perfect :-) I think this is the best Decoded Feedback album.

Yes I must say this cd is truly FAB theeeee best decoded feedback cd by far! Can't wait to catch their show with Haujobb this month ;)) MeOw Get the CD! It kicks A$$
